Pranjal Gems is an international luxury brand of Indian jewellery, focusing on handmade luxury sterling silver pieces. The name Pranjal comes from the Sanskrit word for "lovely", which is how the brand feels about the people who purchase their products. They offer jewellery pieces that are elegant and contemporary with a strong sense of heritage and tradition. The brand was founded by Mr. Pranjal Desai in 1981 in Mumbai. His father was in the diamond trade and he worked with him and in his father's store after school hours in India. As a young man he traveled to the West and was inspired by his time in Europe to start his own company. Pranjal Gems became internationally recognized when they were presented with an award from Queen Elizabeth II in 2001 during her visit to India. The award was given in recognition of the company's contribution to the British economy through its exports to the UK and its contribution to British industry and trade at home and abroad. It is made up of 855 grams of pure gold and has a 23-karat white gold finish.
