GSI Outdoors Santoku 6" Chef Knife, Compact Stainless Steel Knife with Protective Sheath for Camping, Picnics & BBQs

I have the set and case that comes with one of these knives, a small santoku and a serrated knife, plus washing scrubber, collapsible cutting board and 1 oz. container for cleaning liquid. I don't use the serrated blade, so I subbed this one into the set. These are very ergonomic, very light and smooth knives. I love them. They come sharp and are easy to keep sharp with nothing more than a honing steel. I'll break down pros and cons: Pros 1) very ergonomic. 2) came SHARP. 3) has blade guard -- important for a travel knife. 4) I find the size very useful. It can replace a chef's knife and has much utility if you like staying in condos and cabins where decent blades are hard to come by. Cons 1) stamped metal (less a con than a "well it has to be" at this price point). 2) you will need to sharpen it. I see complaints all over about knives that get dull. ALL knives get dull with use. Learn to use a ceramic sharpening rod and a knife steel to keep the blade going. That said, this is soft-ish steel. Perfectly fine in my book, but if you can't sharpen or hone, you won't like this. Just a few strokes on steel after use has proven adequate for me this far. 3) no dimples like some santokus... Your sliced zucchini will hold to the blade. So... The cons are WAY beyond acceptable at this price point. It's really a great knife for putting in a kitchen goodie box if you stay in places where you can cook (I avoid hotels for multi-night stays for this reason... I like preparing my food when possible). This is a great tool to help you do that. Highly recommend.

Easy to pack for camping. Good protective sheath. Reasonably sharp and sturdy blade, but not quite as thin as I would like so it can bind a little when cutting some things.

This product is good my one complaint I have is that the grip is not textured but that can be easily fixed

Don’t let the lightweight fool you…. This knife can cut!!! Almost wish I bought the whole set… we used it on meat and vegetables . Good grip!

I have the gsi kitchen set but the knife it comes with is smaller than desired so this was the perfect upgrade for the price

I bought this chef knife for camping. It is light and compact enough to be carried very easily and the sheath is very well made. It fits perfectly with all my other camping equipment and this is very study and sharp to cut through various meats and vegetables. I could also see myself using this knife in my home kitchen as well, but the only downside for me is the size of the handle. Since it is a small, compact knife, it is expected. I would definitely recommend.
