I typically play music on my phone, which has horrible sound quality, so a nice speaker is a must. This sounds great and I can get the volumes I want.It is waterproof, but much like my other waterproof electronics, I don't typically test that. However, I'd feel comfortable bringing it in last in the event of rain. It also seems rugged. The outer casing is rubber-like. Again, I don't generally toss my electronics on the ground to test durability.Otherwise, it's relatively small and lightweight, but sounds great. It also seems to have great battery life. I haven't played it until dead, but it's definitely gone on strong after several hours. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Decent sound, terrible speakerphone. *by U***D on December 6, 2013* If you're just going to use it to listen to music then consider my review 4 stars. I set my expectations low for sound quality based on its size and cost. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised in the quality of the sound from such a small speaker. At lower volumes, the sound was reasonably rich and full. As you increase the volume, you will notice that the bass will start to distort. I had planned to use it indoor and at around half of its volume range so it was not a problem for me. If you plan to use it outdoors or in a large area and crank it up, it's going to distort.The reason I knocked it down to 3 stars is the speakerphone performance. The speakerphone function didn't even work on the first unit I received. You could hear the person calling in but all they heard was noise. Amazon quickly replaced it with another unit and while it was better (no more constant noise), it was still very poor. You basically have to be right next to it or you won't be picked up by the built-in mic, and when it does pick you up, it's distorted making it difficult for the person calling you to understand what you're saying.I got this for my wife to use in the kitchen. She wanted to listen to music and I wanted her to be able to take calls hands free. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that you could be a few feet away when trying to use it as a speakerphone so the 2nd unit is going back, as well.If all you want is a nice little Bluetooth speaker and don't want to crank it up to 11, give it a shot.
