Trust me read it.
This book made me cry, die of second-hand embarrassment, and stare at the wall. Might be the best book I'll ever read.

A Powerful Story of Silence and Healing
Speak rounds out as a strong 4-star read for me. This story follows high schooler Melinda, who goes nearly mute after being sexually assaulted at a summer party before her freshman year. As she navigates the challenges of high school and the struggles of adolescence, she also wrestles with the heavy weight of her trauma. I appreciated this quick yet powerful read and the way it portrays Melinda’s path toward healing and reclaiming her voice. Definitely recommend.

Good book, mature topics
I think this was a good book. I read this book with my class. It addressed some heavy topics like depression and rape, which need more talking about anyway. The 3 letters and poems added for the 20th anniversary edition we're good and insightful, especially the poem that Anderson wrote. Overall, this is a good book for more mature young adult audiences because it addresses such mature topics.

Great for school
I only got this book because another class was reading it and I was bored with mine, but this book is so good. I highly recommend it and I think it's a good book for middle schoolers too. It's not too complicated.

I’m a parent of a ten boy and I loved this book!
My son’s English teacher is having his class read Speak so I decided to read it as well. Finished it in two nights. It felt so real. So honest. You fly through the words with Melinda as she plods through what has to be the worst year on record for a freshman girl. Melinda, even though she is suffering, has a dark and incisive sense of humor about her surroundings. This almost surprises you until you remember that when things are really really bad, if you’re not laughing, you’re crying. I can’t wait to discuss this book with my son. If your school board isn’t supporting this book, I’d recommend looking into that.

This is not a review of the book itself but a review of the quality of the product recieved. The book was cut incorrectly so all the pages are on an angle and the words are cut off. I'm not sure how this passed quality control??
