More handy than I expected
Stand/Clamp, gooseneck review only. See * at bottom of review. I had the Bestek Gooseneck Cell Phone Holder in my cart for over a week. Then a complication occured related to some recent medical care and I found myself unable to do just about anything other than lay flat on my back in bed. I decided it was time to test out the Bestek Gooseneck Cell Phone holder. I knew that in my current semi- incapacitated state I would really be able to try it out. Pros: •Clip for the base support works well. I am currently using it clipped to the side of my headboard. •Holds cell phone well. The clamp for the cell phone holds well without slipping and yet does not seem to feel tight enough to be concerned about damage to phone. I am currently using it with a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 without a case. •Gooseneck is easy to position without feeling too loose or slowly drooping. The key is to keep a certain amount of S curve in the gooseneck. This allows the product to function as intended and gives the strength with flexibility to it. For example, it cannot properly support if it is fully extended or positioned with the gooseneck straight. It needs a certain amount of S curve to work effectively. •Keeps plugs and other cell accessory cords handy. I have the cords loosely tied to the middle of the gooseneck so that they are out of the way but within easy reach for charging or using earbuds etc. •Great hands free clip. This allows me to read my Kindle app or OverDrive app, email, dictate messages or product reviews, talk on speaker phone, Skype and watch Netlfix or Amazon Prime streaming all completely hands free while still having the phone positioned in a useable and comfortable position. I don't have to crane my neck or lay in any awkward way to have the phone's face positioned right where I can see and use it best. I can reach up to swipe or select here and there on the touch screen and it doesn't move the gooseneck. If you're texting while phone is on this holder it works best to cradle the phone as you would normally text (esp if you're texting speed is akin to your 60wpm typing speed) as too much movement of the phone when using touch screen and you will get some vibration. Cons: •The only con I can think if at this point is that I wish it were a little longer length on the gooseneck. Just another inch or two or maybe a selection of different length options would be great. User Note and Word of Caution: If you are intending to use on a delicate piece of furniture or one that you are concerned with getting scratched, you may benefit from using it in conjuntion with a thin flat silicone pot holder such as MIU France Set of 2 Silicone Pot Holders, Red or even a couple small pieces of some no slip shelf liner like the Duck Brand 1359572 Select Grip Easy Liner Non-Adhesive Shelf Liner, 12-Inch x 20-Feet, Black . Items like these will give you space between the strong grip and the piece of furniture you're securing to as well as give the increased slip reduction. Bottom line: This is a handy tool. Something like this would be great for folks who are temporarily or permanently incapacitated or have special needs or that need assistive devices. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good cell holder option that needs the versatility of a clip that can attach to a number of different places and surfaces. *My review is only of the stand clamp and gooseneck. My order did not come with a suction cup mount and only had the clamp, stand and gooseneck as is listed in the item description.*

Good solution for phone holder
I was looking for a phone holder that would not attach to a windshield, but somewhere in the area of dashboard. The gooseneck looked like a good solution. The clamp for the phone seems very secure, doesn't look like there is any chance that the phone would fall out of it during driving. The gooseneck itself is adjustable and it's fairly easy to adjust it. The phone clamp can be turned as well. The clamp on the bottom is very hard to press open, the spring is very strong. It still may move a bit, but it depends what you clip it to. I had to do it a twist in the middle as it was way too tall for my need. The other mount I used on the desk and it was very strong. I did not try it in the car, as I didn't want it on the windshield and my dashboard is not smooth enough for suction mounts. It does come with 2 phone clamps, so both can be used independently. You really are buying two products. One thing one has to make sure before buying, is that there is an area that could accommodate the clip, (especially when buying to be used in a vehicle). The gooseneck does shake a bit during driving, but the way I have it looped greatly reduces it and it actually is not too bad. One thing that is not perfect is the ball head that keeps the phone clamp is a bit too loose, should be a bit larger in respect to the tightening screw to be able to keep it in one position. So far I did not have much problem, but I could definitely see the clamp with the phone dropping a bit during long rides, especially with heavy phone. It would be a 5 star product if: 1. The gooseneck was shorter - I would say by good 7 to 9 inches - would eliminate much of the shake 2. The phone clamp attachment to the arm was stronger. The reason I'm

Overall, well thought out design...
I looked at the negative reviews for this and was surprised to see they were mostly for the thing being TOO STRONG. Really?! It just goes to show you can't please everyone. The clip should be strong, it needs to be strong, it's holding relatively significant weight and at odd angles. I, for one, appreciate the strength of the clip. Just use common sense where it goes. The clip also has some foam-like protectors to protect things from getting scratched... and even has some cloth-type material up the clip to further protect things from getting scratched. The arm is very sturdy as well, it flexs, but still needs to be strong enough to hold a phone. I, for one, appreciate that once I move it into position, it stays! I'm not sure the gooseneck is really ideal for a car. I think it's intent is more for desks, bedside nightstand, etc... People wanting to put a 2 FT gooseneck in the small confines of a car, well, I just can't think that's ideal. Hence the included suction window mount... and I've never had much success with suction window mounts, so I can't speak to this one either. I don't like em. They never stay on my windows. I've used other more sturdy vehicle mounts... I have one that uses the CD slot and works great for my vehicle... I have another that fits in the cup holder, and also works great. As for this holder, I use it at a desk, and it works awesome. My main concern was whether or not the phone holder part would spread far enough apart and clamp tight enough to hold my Samsung Note 3 which is pretty big. I'm glad to say it MORE than handles it. Even with my Otter case, it holds it fine. The instructions say it opens to 90mm (3-1/2 in). But it opens easily to 3-3/4 and could even stretch to 4 in. if needed, and would still have a good grip on anything. The "rubberized" grips on the inside add stability to anything it holds. Great design. This device is strong because it needs to be. The clip is not for potato chip bags. It's to hold a phone up to 2 feet away. It's designed that way and is effective. The gooseneck is flexible, but strong and sturdy. It sometimes takes two hands to get the right flex. It's designed that way. The gooseneck part of the kit is a mix of plastic and metal. I know the metal will last a lifetime, but not sure about the plastic. It seems to be made as well as can be expected without having something as heavy as a suit of armor. I can't really speak to the window mount, but it all seems to be heavy enough plastic. For a desk mount phone holder that can be used at any angle, I think this is perfect.

So fkn tight, it broke my Galaxy S4 case
I used to have a Ottie phone holder that worked perfectly for my Galaxy S4 but I did gift it. After to review a lot of options from Amazon, decided to get this one even after to read that this product was so tight. That was the worse decision: - The entire is heavy, but believe when I say that is heavy. It feels like a piece of iron in your hands so is impossible to change the position of the holder with one hand. I have a desktop with a tempered glass as table and I was very scared if this holder fell in there because it would crash the glass. - the clip to fix the base is to tight so there is no place to put it since it could damage any surface. - I tried to use this holder just for one hour; so I did put my Galaxy S4 in the clip, later I realized that my Spigen case was broken due to the pressure of the clip!!!!! what a kind of curse is this??? After that I decided to return this holder to Amazon and I got my money back. Now I'm using the last Ottie XL phone holder for my Galaxy S5 and I'm more than happy with this.

So close to perfect, yet so far away.
This is the second one i have bought, and the second one almost immediately broke when i was trying to tighten the swivel joint. This is odd considering the first one is still in good condition... maybe one was made more brittle form a temperature change at some point? For the money, this is a good deal. I use it to take pics and video for a small craft business, and it really does make life easier, if one of us wants to take an action shot for instagram without bothering the other. the clamp parts are nice and secure, and it holds many sizes of phone, i have used sizes from iphone se to otterbox-clad galaxy note with no problems. the only weak link really is the plastic swivel joint, you have to be careful when tightening it. I wish this company would sell just a single long gooseneck clamp with a stronger swivel joint, everything else is great!

My search is over! This holder works perfectly.
I've tried to record video on my OnePlus 2 phone at my desk with a full size tripod with the legs collapsed, by just leaning it against stuff on my desk, my using one of those octopus style tripod phone holders, and none of those things worked for me. I watched a lettering video last week where the writer said she was using this because she could get the phone right below her face, but without showing the base of the stand. She was right, this works for me perfectly! What I like: -Phone clamp: It fits my phone fine. Other holders have been tight on my phone, because it's wider than other phones. -Sturdy: My phone made my last phone stand flop over because it's so heavy, but this stand/holder is really solid and easily holds my phone up without sagging! -LONG "neck": I can clamp this over on the side of my desk and then bend it over to where I want it. It reminds me of a desk lamps bendy metal neck. I like it a lot. -Portable: This can be wrapped up and moved, or relocated to other parts of the desk very easily. What I don't like: -It bounces a little if you touch the phone. -Clamp can scoot a little when adjusting the neck. Bottom line: My search for a phone stand/tripod for filming at my desk is over. Super thankful that this works so well for me! Attaching a quick video that I filmed with this holder. You can see that the phone is positioned close to the paper and the base of the stand is not visible at all.

Definitely do not try to clamp this onto any ledge more than 1.5 inches thick. I did and the clamp bent, and now it will not hold onto any ledge. Granted it was my mistake that I used it with such a thick ledge, the slightly bent clamp now makes the entire thing useless. It slides right off of any ledge i try to clamp it onto, and bending the clamp back into place evenly is impossible. I also found it takes a lot of maneuvering (and a bit of strength!) to get the arm to position how you want it. It's large and awkward, so travelling with it is difficult. I would recommend this for anyone who doesn't need to move it around a lot, and will keep it mainly in one spot. But if you need to move it around, want to clamp it onto a ledge thicker than 1.5 inches, or want ease of movement with positioning, this may not be the best choice. Lastly, I will say that I love the car mount. I do use that to hold my phone in my car, and it is solid, sturdy, and works great. I can even film video while driving, with very little movement in the video in my iPhone 7.

This mount is absolutely perfect for me
I'm one of those unfortunate people that has no sense of direction, and could get lost in a box. A GPS, or a phone with a GPS app, is an absolute requirement for me. I'm also a very visual person, so I need to be able to see the directions on the GPS map (not just listen to them). This mount is absolutely perfect for me. This is the best cell phone mount I've found for my car (2015 Kia Soul). I've tried vent mounts (block your vents), suction cup mounts (fall off the windshield and leave ugly round marks on the glass), cup holder mounts (way too low, requiring me to take my eyes off the road), and in my previous car a CD-slot mount (don't have a CD player in my new car); they were all unsightly, didn't position the phone correctly, didn't hold the phone securely, blocked my view, or blocked my air vents. This, however, clamps to the passenger side seat rail and positions my cell phone just about at the height of my radio. It holds my phone securely, and most importantly positions it perfectly so I don't need to take my eyes off the road. The flexible gooseneck is extremely stiff and sturdy. It requires some small effort to bend it into the shape desired, and holds its shape. It does not get in the passenger's way. I'm using this mount with a Samsung Galaxy S2 in an Otterbox case... somewhere around 7 ounces total weight. The phone is quite steady in the mount while driving, although it does bounce/wiggle a bit when touched. This has an extremely simple solution, however... don't play with your phone while driving. edit: April 23, 2016 - Still loving this mount! There's been no sign of wear or loosening of any parts. edit: June 19, 2019 - The plastic socket on the end of the phone clamp (that swivels on the metal ball end of the goose neck arm) broke today. So now my phone flops around, loosely. I'm not changing my review; I think I got my money's worth out of this with four years of daily use.
