Rubies DC Comics Superheroes: Superman Costume for Kids

Great product! A little pricey but it was good quality and fit perfectly. My child felt like a real superhero on Halloween. It held up well enough that he can use it for dress up play in daily life. I would recommend it for sure. My son said it was super comfy too which is a plus with kids. Overall it looked, felt, and was great!

I order costumes for my boys quite often as they really love playing dress up. This time around trying to find a Superman costume that was of decent quality and the right size was definitely a chore. I think Amazon has 3 different products and they are mixing up the links during the ordering process. Twice I had to go in and change the product because when I clicked on Add to Cart, when I got to the cart the product numbers did not match the initial costume that I ordered. So be sure to compare product numbers once you go into your Shopping cart. As for the actual costume itself, it is really a great little costume for the price. The same costume at Wal-Mart was $26.00 so I am pleased with the price. The material is made from the typical thin polyester costume material that you find in all of the retail stores like Wal-Mart, Target, etc. So if your child likes to play rough just that it will snag and run. But given the fact that most child costumes these days are made from this same material there is not much you can do about that either. It is durable enough for everyday play, I would not suggest tree climbing in it but regular play will keep the costume in decent condition for a long while. Surprisingly enough, the costume we got with this order was stitched together very well. The velcro was actually double stitched and holds together. Usually I have to safety pin the sections where the velcro attaches because they never hold together but I did not have to do that this time with this costume. The colours are true to traditional Superman, with the bright candy apple red, deep yellow and royal blue. The Superman emblem is an iron on decal but it is attached perfectly with no issues so far of it peeling off or being bubbled. One of the great additions to this costume that has been lacking in the previous Superman costumes I have bought in the past is that the belt and the cape are completely separate items. The belt ties on around the waist which helps with being able to hold up the waist and legs from the costume being too big. And the cape is a wonderfully full flowing cape that reaches all the way to the ground. My boys love that the belt and the cape are separate because it adds to their playing experience of donning on their suit piece by piece. The sizing of the costume is a totally different issue. My boys are in the 5-6 child size group and a lot of the reviews stated that this costume ran on the small side. My boys are average height but run on the skinny side so when I read the reviews talking about it being small for children built similar to my boys so I decided to order the Medium instead of the small. The medium (6-7)is HUGE. I have had to pin it in several places to keep it from drooping off of them. It is like playing Russian roulette when it comes to finding proper sizes for boys these days so the small could very well be way too small and the medium is definitely too big. The good thing is I would much rather have something too big than too small. At least they will be able to grow into it and still have this costume for a long while. Overall I am very pleased with this costume, the shipping was extremely fast, the price was reasonable and I would definitely order from Rubie's Costume Co. again.

Before you read on, know that this got rave reviews from all, including our son, who absolutely loved wearing it. It also made for excellent pictures. For these reasons, it got a four, though it likely deserved a three. Having said that, we bought this in the 2-4 toddler size for a slightly-tall two-year-old, and there was no room to spare, especially when we put some pajama-like clothes under the costume for warmth. The length wasn't the problem. It was the other dimensions that were pushing it, and he's on the slim side. The stitching over his back was already coming loose when we put it on the first time, and the velcro holding the neck together of the uniform itself didn't make it through the third wearing (busy Halloween), so a safety pin was needed. The cape's velcro is about to go, too. Just an FYI, the picture makes it look like the uniform goes over the shoes, which it does in a way. The bottom of the feet are open with straps that go under the shoes. That worked really well, actually, and looked pretty convincing. It was helpful when we went to a place that required that we take our shoes off. So, all in all, it's an adorable costume, but don't expect it to last very long.

Perfect fit for my 5 year old! He loved everything!

My 2.5 year old has recently become obsessed with superheroes, and Superman is his favorite at the moment. He'd been asking for a Superman costume/outfit for several weeks, so I did a little looking and decided to go with this one. My son is ~35" tall and this fits him PERFECTLY. He was absolutely thrilled. The belt goes on separately, which he loved too. Maybe because he can see Superman's belt in his storybooks. The cape fastens around the neck with velcro. This is the only aspect of the costume that I would change. The velcro fastener lies up against his neck, which is apparently quite uncomfortable for him (but possibly wouldn't bother other kids.) I get around this issue by simply using safety pins to attach the cape to his shoulders. Easy peasy. The material is synthetic, and while not soft, exactly, is very comfortable right up next to my son's skin. He only wears his diaper under it. This item arrived last Friday, I think...and it's now Thursday a week later. He's worn it every day and it's holding up pretty well. I've washed it 1x (hand washed, as recommended) and it cleaned up like a breeze. I was a little worried bc there were several large stains on the legs that I couldn't identify, but they came right out. This is not a super high end costume...but I think it's really really well done for the cost. I would absolutely buy it again (and may well have to do so if my son keeps insisting on wearing it every day!) Also, one other cool element of the costume is that the foot part covers the top of you kid's shoes, so Superman's "boots" are intact for your little Superman wanna-be. Highly recommend.

Bought this for my son as a 3 year old and it was a little large. He is 4 1/4 and just wore it for superhero day at school and it came in perfect. It is of good quality just a little large in size for a 3-4 year old, I'd say it is more a 4-5.
