I was looking for a monks habit for a while, but all the real ones are expensive. I wanted something to connect me to the monks (even though I’m not Catholic nor aspiring to be a monk) because their prayer lives and how they live has helped me grow so much in my faith. When I found this monks costume, I knew I could turn it into more. Through this outfit I have found my new deep in prayer, prayer clothes. The fabric is nice to the touch and if you wear a monks apron (monastic scapular) it really sells this as the real deal! I made my own monks apron from some felt from a fabric store, very easy to make and is very versatile.The color I chose was brown, it is a bit darker than the Franciscan monks habit, but it’s still definitely brown. It’s a very nice color and I would say it would suit most skin colors well. It is almost the perfect size and fit for me (5’9” 175lb male) with a bit of a belly. And this has plenty of room for me to both slim up or chunk up a bit.The weight of the material is very light, but not see through light, just like a normal top sheet weight. This makes it comfortable to wear in numerous environments and weather climates, although I do think you’d be soaked if it were raining.All in all, I absolutely love this and will be purchasing a black one soon!! I also told one of my friends about this and I’m going to get him one because we’re both Protestants who like monastic lifestyles.

The costume is awesome and the hood is removable its a separate thing thats awesome

Fabric is fairly thick and the cut is roomy inside. Separate shoulder/hood and robe pieces are easy to deal with.The 100% poly doesn't breath at all and gets warm fast so it will be unbearable on a hot dusty day at Renaissance Faire or stuffy at a crowded party. Otherwise, it could be comfy on a cold halloween night.Disappointed that it's a full 4-5" shorter than the chart showed. I'm average adult male size and bought the biggest size so it would hang below my feet while wearing platforms, but it's exactly my height (this is second costume item bought that is much shorter than stated, WHY!?)Also wish it had side slits so pants pockets are accessible. Not too hard to cut at seams and reinforce though.Generally recommended for most anyone who doesn't mind thicker, plastic, unbreathable fabric.

Got this for a renaissance fair. Comfortable, good for outdoor use, and nice value for the price.

This was a great costume for Halloween. It was a bit long, but it was OK. The material was thick and it was a great value for the money.

I'm a 2XL guy but these run a size larger. It swallowed me and was way too long. Get a size smaller.

Reviewed several of these costumes on line before deciding on this. I needed it fast and for a church All Saints day event so it had to look as much like the real outfit as it could. I was very amazed at the color, looks and quality of the material for the price paid. I love it but as stated in other reviews there were some draw backs for my use. As just a costume for a party, go for it as it will do just fine. For my use I wanted it more authentic and so did the following modifications; 1. the rope was to large and not able to go around twice with the proper knot and extended length of cord, so I made one out of 3/8 twisted nylon line. 2. the cross was too small and barely visible so made a crucifix and lanyard. 3. You really need the access to your pockets without having to pull the whole gown up to get to them so the wife cut the side seems loose and re-stitched them as slits at the pocket heights. I wore this both inside a building and outside in the south Texas sun. I was no problem inside the air conditioning but was a little warm in the sun but not unbearable, to me at least. I think you will be pleased with this choice! I distorted the face in the picture..
