Very nice, compact board
Bought it on for a good price. The magnetized pieces hold well, which it’s important for kids. They all fit snugly into the board when it folds to close up for easy clean up/storage. It comes with an extra queen in each color. Good quality. Not intended as a display piece, though it looks ok.

Perfect Chess Set — Highly Recommended!
I really love this chess set! The size is just right — not too big and not too small — making it perfect for playing at home or taking on trips. The magnetic pieces hold firmly on the board, so the game stays steady even if the board moves. The wood quality feels solid and well made, and the extra queens are a nice bonus. It folds easily for storage and travel. This is a great set for beginners and families. Highly recommended!

You will be very pleased with the quality. Great gift (nice box it comes in).
Overall, absolutely recommended and the reviews are spot-on. Great to hear that their support is also amazing! My only critiques, my 9yo mentioned that the wood square the board/prices fold into could use a handle on it, to carry it easier. Wouldn’t look as nice though, I understand why it doesn’t have one, not a big deal at all unless you’re constantly traveling with it, unlikely. The only other thing is (keep in mind I know nothing about chess) as I understand it there’s a universal chess letter/number “grid”, like a-1, a-2,b-3 etc., that helps you know “where you are” on the board, to make it a little easier to learn specific moves/patterns in the game, which seem to be included on most instructional videos online. Be nice if these numbers/letters were nicely painted (or whatever) onto the board somehow, in an understated way that wouldn’t look too cheesy (I don’t think?). That’s all I got... it’s an amazing set and would make for a wonderful gift as even the (sealed) cardboard box it comes in is extremely elegantly designed. Also the fact that the pieces are magnetic, to me, seems to be a huge benefit. So satisfying having the pieces stick perfectly with each move. *The following is not related to this item in particular, related to chess more broadly - By the way, although my 9yo is a bit atypical in terms of what he likes (e.g. playing chess, apparently) he REAlly likes this set, and playing chess, way more than I would have anticipated, especially now that he’s been exposed to it. His 4th grade teacher went out of her way to specifically recommended I buy a chess set for my 9yo son, something about the way he thinks, that she’s observed. So, maybe your child will like it too. I do see tremendous value in how the game of chess challenges your mind in unique ways, over multiple “threads”, all at once. Not to mention, it’s a Game, and is fun! Adults, remember to “handicap” yourselves at first when playing a child or someone new, simply pull out your queen, or your rooks, or nights, or something, to start with. To me this seems almost required, to be more fair, when playing with a child/someone inexperienced. I’m a horrible player that barely remembered the rules, didn’t handicap, and to be honest smoked my 9yo, mostly because I was able to get away with very ‘aggressive’ moves, very early, moves that a more experienced opponent would have likely easily identified and squashed. So, I would say either handicap yourself, or, actively work on behalf of your opponent throughout the game, to help identify moves for them to take you out. There were multiple turns that passed, where my (9yo) opponent had a piece sitting there able to take mine out, because he’s young/inexperienced, and I wasn’t paying attention to his potential moves as closely as I could have been, multiple turns went by until we both noticed, and he took my piece out. Didn’t think I was going to get into ‘how to play chess with a child/inexperienced’ in my review of this item, but there it is. Excellent item.

EXCELLENT CHESSBOARD SET
This is a beautifully made, very classy, traditional looking travel chessboard set. Even the box that the board is stored in is gorgeous and unique! I liked that the magnetism of the chessboard is very strong. I placed some of the chessmen pieces on the board and turned it upside-down and shook it quite vigorously but the chess pieces didn’t move at all! The biggest drawback to this chessboard set is that it’s slightly large and possibly a bit heavy for packing on a long trip such as a trip on a train or if you’re flying. However, I think it would be just fine for taking to the park, the beach or to a friends house or something such as that. One of the things I liked about this chess set is that there’s a specific slot for storing each chess piece so everything stays nice and neat and very organized. The board itself folds in half so it’s not as bulky or awkward as a traditional chessboard if you want to transport it somewhere. The chessboard is beautifully designed and made of a high quality, strong looking material and it’s quite lovely to look at. The chess pieces are very nice looking and made of a high-quality wood. The only reason we decided to return it is that we purchased two travel chessboard sets that were almost exactly the same so we could compare. The one we decided to keep is a bit lighter weight and the board is covered in leather which I thought was really unique and it looked beautiful.

Great entry level
Just got this chess set and honestly, it's pretty sweet! Been using it for a few weeks now and thought I'd share my thoughts. First off, the magnetic pieces are clutch - no more pieces flying everywhere when my little brother bumps the table 😅 The board itself looks really nice with the wood finish, def doesn't feel cheap like some other sets I've seen. Love how it folds up and has spots to store all the pieces inside - perfect for bringing to my friend's place or the park. The extra queens are a nice touch (wish more chess sets did this tbh). Makes it way less annoying when you're playing multiple games and need to promote pawns. The pieces have a good weight to them and the magnets are strong enough to stay put but not so strong that they're hard to move. Size-wise it's pretty perfect - not too huge that it takes up the whole table, but big enough that you're not squinting to see what's what. At 15 inches it's just right for casual games. Only minor complaint is that the hinges could be a bit sturdier, but honestly for the price point I can't really complain. Great for beginners (my little cousin who's 8 is learning with it) but also solid enough for more serious players.
