The picture says Product of Canada. The manufacturer has answered questions on Amazon saying they are from Canada or Poland. I bought 18 cans of Sardines in Soybean Oil here. The cans and the box they came in say Product of Thailand. I more or less trust people in developed countries to have clean, non-contaminating food factories. The sardines are good-sized and nutritious. I have noticed slight variations in quality from order to order, but they're always acceptable, if not quite good. They come from 3 different countries and you never know which you'll get: Canada, Poland, and Thailand. I think the ones from Canada are the best but the ones from Poland and Thailand are fine. I've had no problem with these sardines. The quality is good. I will continue to buy them.UPDATE: 11/19 The quality of these (at least on Amazon) has plummeted terribly. The last order was soft and mushy sardines in deeply dented cans. Inedible. I do not think I will continue buying them anymore. It was good while it lasted, though! I can no longer recommend this brand as the good buy it once was.RE-UPDATE 1/20: I decided to give this brand one more try. Sure enough they arrived. This time the cans were not all dented, but the sardines themselves were mushy and inedible - again. So I am done with this brand, which is unfortunate because they used to be decent quality - they were never the best, but they were a decent value. Now, they are inedible, and if inedible is the wrong adjective to use, then disgusting is the right one.

The media could not be loaded.  They are not sardines in the U.S. but in some countries they might be. So what is a Sprat? Sprats are a kind of fish. The sprats are tiny, and are normally sold canned. You are supposed to eat the whole sprat. The canned sprats are very very soft, so even the heads, tails and fins taste the same as the rest of the sprat. We fried ours because they were slimy. Not to bad just not what I was buying, I wanted sardines not sprats!!!

I just received my Beach Cliff Sardines in Soybean Oil the other day. Last night, I had a can.They taste delicious, and very fresh tasting.This is one of the perfect Top Foods for the KETO Diet.There are many makers of Sardines on the market. (Trust me, I have tried them all!), however; BEACH CLIFF is the best maker cuz it is fresh tasting, medium sized, and even has the bone and skin on it, which by the way the bone is very nutritious for its calcium content.Perfect to put in briefcase or pocketbook, to the office, to the school, and all around - Everywhere!Thank you, BEACH CLIFF, for your Delicious, Nutritious Sardines!PS I eat mine out of the can, however; you can also make a sandwich of it by draining the soybean oil, slicing up white onions and placing on Rye Bread.Yummy! :)

I have eaten this brand of Sardines for the most of my life. My parents bought this brand when I was a child, so I've been raised on this brand and know what to expect from it. However, this last order from June 2020 has labels that look the same, but upon closer inspection has SPRATS listed as the 1st ingredient. I took a picture of an older can and a can of the latest order next to each other as well as a close up of each can's ingredient list. I have no idea what Sprats are, so a quick search shows them as a smaller fish than Sardines. Sure enough, when I opened the can, there were small guppy sized pieces of fish, rather than the larger Sardines that I have grown up with. How can this company get away with this blatant misleading label calling the product Sardines? Amazon should pull this item from it's catalog until an explanation can be made as to how they can label this item as Sardines, when in fact it is a totally different type of fish. And, by the way, it doesn't taste the same as Sardines either.

BPA TOXINS ? Flavor is ok but this brand will not disclaim BPA content while others will. Not for me. The one star rating is for perceived consumer health risk.Believe me, if there were no BPA toxins added, this company would so proudly list it as all the others do. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ended its authorization of the use of BPA in certain consumer packaging yet not all. Consumers beware for your own health, especially fish products packed in metal. I also purchased this item packed in mustard sauce. Both were great but this hot sauce pack was more tender and much better in my opinion. Another reviewer stated that sardines packed in other varieties/flavors are from different counties. My internet research found this sodium content is 420mg while another popular brand of 'royal' sardines packed in Louisiana Hot Sauce was only 190mg in sodium( which is 8% of daily recommended ).

I should have read the reviews before ordering. These sardines are the worst I have ever tried. It's like eating fish sludge soup out of a can. Kind of surprised because Beachcliff has always been fine over the years when I get them from the store. I wouldn't even feed the ones from Amazon to my dog. He deserves better.I also see that my cans are from Poland and not Canada. False advertising showing a picture of a can from Canada only to send one from Poland. The ocean water near Poland are high in pollutants. Even if the fish were of higher quality, I would have to send them back to Amazon due to being falsely advertised.Total garbage. Look elsewhere unless you're beyond desperate for some "meat" in a can.
