Each placemat is approximately 11 3/8" x 16 3/8"

is this mat durable? is it plain hard laminate?

I Gave them as a gift. They are laminated pretty well, but not sure on how durable they are.

How thick are they? Are they padded underneath or paper thin?

These are created by laminating the paper with 10 mil gloss with borders and round corners plastic on each side. There is information on each side of the item. One side shows the graphic and the other gives detailed information about the subject. The thickness is about 0.6 mm or 0.03". These are very sturdy and can be used as a dinner placemat.
