Nikon F100 is a GREAT camera
The Nikon F100 lives up to it's reputation. After using digital SLR cameras for about a year, i thought i would experiment with film a little bit. There were cheaper, lighter options, but the Nikon F100 caught my eye with it's well constructed body, and professional feature-set. This camera will surely satisfy your needs. The Nikon F100 has a very sturdy, dare i say professional, feel. It's heavier than most film cameras, and is about the same weight as a comparable digital SLR. Like all professional-level cameras, you won't find a flash on the camera. If you want one, you're going to have to get one, for a little more. The F100 has a lot of custom settings, and controls (that may be confusing if you're not familiar with such features already). It's not a camera a complete amateur would buy. There are automatic modes (of course), however. The light-meter is very accurate, and the metering modes are easy to access. I think having to hold down two buttons to access a feature is a little annoying, and some of the buttons are ackwardly placed on the body. It takes four (4) double A (AA) batteries, which adds to the body's weight, but they are remarkably long-lasting. They are said to last for 70 rolls of film. The camera handles well, and the photographs are great. Just wish film and development were cheaper. In the long run, digital is alot cheaper, and a hell-of-alot more convenient; which is why most professionals made the switch a long time ago. Most use film for the quality-difference, and that difference is argued. In conclusion, it's a great film camera that will surely satisfy your needs.

Best non-pro Nikon SLR
Reviewer Ken Rockwell calls ths the second best Nikon 35mm SLR ever made after the F6. I agree completely! It s very solid-much more an Rockwell gives credit in fact, and handles virtually any shooting situation. I especially like that all of the controls-including the focus screen- work just like prosumer DSLRs, such as my D90. You just reach for a knob or button and it is there. If you want to use a film and digital SLR in tandem, I think the F100 is te way to go.

Good, sort of
Your mileage will vary depending on the camera you receive. The first one I received was labeled 'very good'. Indeed it looked good, but the top right dial not working right. I would skip values while rotating it. Returned. The second one I tried was labeled 'good'. It came with trace of an impact near the LCD screen, it was not working as expected (no autofocus on the main button press), the viewfinder was quite dusty, and the eyepiece was missing. And strangely it had a Kodak Portra 400 still in it. Yet I kept it as it seemed functional and ok overall. I covered the white trace of impact with a black Sharpie, resetting the menu options fixed the auto focus, I found a matching eyepiece. I have yet to clean the view finder but that should be ok.

About the seller
I love the camera, but I'm writing this to commend the seller, who was communicative and helpful. The camera arrived ahead of schedule, packaged very carefully, and with a note containing a link to a PDF of the original Nikon manual. Also, while the camera's condition was listed as "very good," it could easily have been called "like new." An outstanding buying experience.

Love my old school camera...
My wife purchased this camera for my birthday. I use a Nikon AF 85mm f/1.8d and shoot Velvia 50 with it, and have had nothing but superior results. We traveled to Puerto Rico last summer and I took pictures of Old San Juan, including El Morro, San Cristobal, the National Cemetery, as well as other sites along the western part of the island. Yeah, developing is expensive, but the colors are unreal. I'll keep shooting slide film until they stop making it! I'm saving up for second F100 body!

Favorite camera.
My favorite camera. I have an olympus om10 and nikon d610. I use this camera the most. Ive been burning through film like it’s no ones business. Makes photography super fun and addictive. Vendor delivered item as described and was in nearly perfect condition. I do wish it came with the original battery holder as opposed to the battery grip but I’d probably be saying the opposite if it was the other way around. Lol

Pairs nicely with my 50mm 1
Fast delivery. Everything is working on the camera. Pairs nicely with my 50mm 1.8. I cant figure out how to connect the aperture control on the thumb wheel so I just use the ring on the lense.
