Constructivism: Theory, Perspectives, and Practice, Second Edition

This book was well written, and it gave me good, basic information about psychological/cognitive constructivism. I had hoped that would cover all types of constructivism, but it did not. I bought it before I realized that there were so many types of constructivism and that a book oriented toward education would likely just feature one aspect of the theory. You'll need other texts or references if you are also wanting information about radical constructivism, social constructivism, or other aspects of the topic.

Using the socio cultural theory for my Master's research project. This book was exactly what I was looking for.

This is such a helpful description of constructivism, its tenets and its roots. Clear, easy to read, full of information.

It was brand new with good price. I used it for constructivism class

Constructivism by Catherine Twoney Fosnot is seriously flawed and outdated. To begin with the text has a copyright date of 2005. Which means that it was written/assembed most likely 3-5 years earlier, so the text was written approximately 2001- 03. Some of the chapters in the text are reprints from other books. These chapters are very old (i.e. 25-35 years). For example, in chapter 3, the median year of the references is 1989, with many references being much older than that.This text is also severly lacking in the quality of the sources cited in the chapters. The sources are usually based on other author's opinions. The number of academic peer revieved papers is severly lacking.From a content perspective, I was disappointed. Even in the day that it was written there was good research on the evolution of the mind and so on. It appears that the authors were unaware of the body of knowledge in these fields. This book should not be used as a university text.

A bit dated. While a good resource, it would serve the book well to undergo a major revision.

A comprehensive series of essays that really help an educator explore a constructivist approach.

Excellent read! I hope to find a hard copy of it.
