Absolutely Astounded
When I first purchased this amp, I was very hesitant due to it's lack of in depth reviews and it not being a product from a big name brand like Pioneer, Alpine, or Kenwood. Let me tell you something, this amp KICKS BUTT. After weeks of researching, I decided to run a JVC head unit (the KD-R730BT) with Monoprice.com RCAs, 2 sets of Infinity Kappa 6829CF 6x9 Speakers, some 14 gauge speaker wire, and this amplifier (sub to be added soon, will update review when I do). Just to be safe, I ran 4 gauge wire to the amp that I bought from a local stereo shop. Seriously go to the professionals to get your wire and fuse box, you never know the quality of the stuff you're going to get online and the LAST thing you want is your car burning to the ground. Run a 100A fuse and you should be fine with this amp. Pros: Price -- this amp is super cheap for the product and quality you're getting. Sub Gain Knob -- this amp comes with a subwoofer gain knob so you can boost your punchy bass while you don't have your mids and highs through the roof. Built in High/Low Pass Filters -- pretty much self explanatory, this amp has built in high and low pass filters so you can fine tune your setup to sound the best when you're running subs and mid/high speakers. Barely gets warm -- even under the seat of my Focus, this thing blasts away for hours without getting hot. It's a bit warm, but you can keep your hand on it even after playing it for a long time. Cons: Size -- while not too much of an issue, this product is a bit on the big side, especially if you're putting it in a smaller vehicle. I have a Ford Focus ZX3 (the little hatchback) and I didn't want to mount this sucker to the rear seat, so I threw it under the passenger seat. From there it peeks out just a bit, but nothing too bad. Things to keep in mind: -- Go with a good quality amp power wire and fuse box. -- Like another reviewer said, some of the switches are reversed, particularly the RCA input voltage switches. -- If you're rewiring your car speakers, to keep them at 2 Ohms make sure to run 14 gauge wire for anything under 20 ft and make sure to run 12 gauge wire for anything over that. -- Keep in mind this sucker is big, almost 20" long and 10" wide, so plan where you're gonna put it accordingly. I've had this product for about 2 weeks and I can't believe how I ever listened to my stock stereo. Absolutely the best thing I could have done to my car. In wrap up, don't be afraid when buying this product like I was; you'll be absolutely blown away (almost literally) by the quality of this product. In two words: It's awesome.

Superb Amp
This 5-channel amp is superb. The quality is high. And it sounds amazing. If you want a dedicated channel for your sub, which is a smart idea if you have a strong power-hogging sub, and you don't have the space or just frankly don't want to deal with a mono amp just for your sub, then this Planet Audio AC1800.5 would be perfect for you. My last sub fried my older amp when I connected it. It almost burned down my entire car, but I caught the fire before it spread. So, I realized then that it would be best to buy a well-made, powerful amp with a dedicated channel for the sub. I find the subwoofer level control on this amp pretty useless. It's a separate part that you can keep in your dash that has a cable running to the amp. All it does it control the subwoofer level. Most head units can do this alone, so this is a useless part for me. Otherwise the other controls on the amp are pretty detailed. You can adjust almost every aspect you can think of. The wattage is also plenty for most sound systems. It was a little difficult to install, but frankly most amps are in many instances. I installed this into my 1990 BMW 325i. The best place to put an amp in my case is to attach it to the back wall in my trunk. But man... it was an absolute pain in the arse! Myself and two others struggled to line up holes and drill through the metal frame behind my backseats. It was a huge relief when we got it installed. It would be nice if Planet Audio had a template to make vertical installation easier. Just FYI: make sure everything is connected and the amp sounds how you want it to sound before installing it, especially if installing at an awkward place in your car. It's cool how the logo lights up, too. I do think the manual could be written better, though: It fails to mention what kind of fuse you need for the power cable. You can consider this amp as pricey. But you get A LOT with the amp: a ton of controls and dedicated channels. Plus it looks cool and performs superbly. It's great for any genre of music: rap, rock, metal, jazz, pop, etc. The longest I ran this amp at any one time was about 4 hours and it never shut off. A good amp is VITAL for a dependable, great sounding car audio system. Planet Audio can help you get there. Overall: 4.5 stars which rounds up to 5. This puppy will last for many years. Thanks, Planet Audio and Amazon!
