YAMAHA NS-AW294BL Indoor/Outdoor 2-Way Speakers (Black,2)

These are great little speakers. I’m actually replacing an identical pair that I’ve had for many years. Full sound and very efficient.

Speakers are easily installed and sturdy. We mounted them on side of our travel trailer, so that was important for us! Bonus is they also sound great!

I purchased these speakers so we could enjoy music outside on our porch without dragging out the bluetooth speaker, or tolerating tiny cell phone audio. They sound great to me, and look nice. They're a bit larger than I imagined, though I'm sure the size was correctly advertised, and they fit quite well where I put them without being too large. I've connected them to a Fosi class D mini amplifier, which is connected to an Echo Dot (both the amp and Echo are indoors), and we use the Alexa app on our phones to control the music. It works very well, and my family and I really enjoy being able to listen to music while hanging out on the porch, at least we did when it was warm enough to want to be outside. They've been installed for over six months, up under the ceiling / roof of our porch, so they're somewhat protected from the elements, and have held up well so far.

These were purchased for a tavern's patio area on a relatively busy street in an urban downtown. Tested prior to the installation these speakers have a pleasing sound at the moderate level they will be used at. I did find their frequency response was a little different when analyzed, but not noticeable to the ear when casually listening. They do lack a punchy bottom, but that is expected with this size enclosure. In my many years as an installer in most cases Yamaha doesn't disappoint. The only thing holding me back from a 5-star rating is the lack of threaded inserts or a tether point to accommodate safety cables. Any speaker system intended to be mounted in a ceiling or on a wall should have that option. This was mentioned in the owners literature, although the cabinet design does not provide a true safety point. The manual recommended attaching to the wall bracket. This does not secure the cabinet and I don't recommend following their instructions. Each cabinet had to be disassembled to add a stainless I-bolt as an attachment point.

They sound pretty good for the size. my old amplifier has no problem powering them. I wouldn't say the bass is lacking but indoor speakers of the same size and price point would definitely have more bass. Perfect for smaller yards or if you have close neighbors and can't really turn it up that loud anyway. This property has about a quarter acre yard and I don't have to turn them all the way up or even close to hear it on my patio. Even though the front of this house is on a main road. TWO YEAR UPDATE: These speakers are mounted on an uncovered fence post, exposed to all of the elements - 4 seasons. The cases are yellowing and cracking but they sound just as good now as new. Very happy with these. May buy two more

good sound, decent price. We use these for all of dance classes so we have to hear the music on top of kids/tap dancing most days so we needed some major volume without major speaker prices :) I had my dad install and he didn't seem to have any issues. you do need to buy audio wire for this. I took off ONE STAR for the ONE issue i find is that we use the bluetooth for once dance room and the sound only goes up so far because the control is on the iphone, and it's pretty quiet for what we need in a dance class... We use the SAME speakers in another room that is connected to an amplifier and we get A LOT more volume!

Excellent speakers,love these,sound quality is very good,and they blend right in. Have these on our front porch so I did'nt want them to be too obvious so I'd have to worry about them being stolen. But I wanted to have something to listen to when doing yard work or lounging out watching the world go by and honestly I did'nt know what to expect from this type of outdoor speaker,but I trusted that anything stereo related that's made by Yamaha would be quality,and in this case that definitely held true. Install was straight forward too,and the sound is great,I mostly listen to heavy stuff,so good bass response was important,but not at the expense of the mids/highs,and these delivered the goods in all those respects. The only problem I knew I was going to have upfront was on the reciever end of things as I needed an extra set of speaker outputs,but the Monoprice 4ch speaker selector (#9995) took care of that deal. Only thing left to see about now is how well they'll hold up over time.
