There are other products with zinc oxide that don't make you look like a stand-in cast member of The Walking Dead. Seriously, it leaves a visible white layer on your skin that is sticky. Save it for the beach so sand will stick. At any rate It will protect your skin from the sun's harmful radiations I will keep it for use in wilderness because it's bullet proof. I'll get another for social settings.My dermatologist gave me samples of Solbar zinc oxide products. They go on smoothly, dry clear, and not sticky. I will be trying their sun protection products.Follow-up 8/11/15: I have used the product after my initial review. What I've found is that the whiteness disappears after a half hour or so. So I am changing my rating to 5 stars. I would buy it again.

My skin is sensitive to most sunscreens. This is one of the few sunscreens I can use that won’t cause stinging on my face when applies. It does go in white and is more difficult to blend in, but that is not the product but the ingredients. I recommend this product if you fare sensitive and need good sun protection on dry land or in the water.

I read a lot of the reviews before purchasing and was surprised they vary significantly. I recently threw out any sun protection products that contained chemicals. Then I was on a mission to find a UVA/UVB broad spectrum mineral sunscreen that contained both zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. This product contains both (zoom onto Drug Facts on this page).I did many stupid things as a teenager trying to get an instant tan in foggy San Francisco and paid the price. Today I am much more cognizant of the dangers of the sun. Daily I use a moisturizer with SPF 50 on my face, 365 days a year whether indoors or out. For long hours gardening, however, I use SPF RX Sunscreen. It goes on white. It stays white. It does NOT rub in. For me, that is a definite plus. Of course, I also wear sunglasses and a wide-brimmed sun protection hat.I do not understand the reviews that state this product comes in a bottle with chemical ingredients included. The product I received is in a tube exactly as shown.

It's very difficult to spread--starts out as a thick patchy layer and then after rubbing vigorously for a while, you end up looking super pale. Far worse than other physical sunscreens I've tried.

If you mind a white cast, then this may not be the sunscreen for you. I don't mind as once I put makeup on, it isn't as noticeable. I'm fair anyway and this seems to cover some of my blotchiness. It is pretty thick and a bit hard to rub in. I also don't mind this knowing that there are no fragrances in it and no silicones (which clog my pores) either. It seems very gentle and I use it on my face and body. It seems like a good safe sunscreen for kids. Once it dries it leaves kind of a matte appearance. It is slightly tacky, but with a little time, that goes away too (unless you have a moisturizer under it). There is a good amount in the tube and the price is fair. You don't need much for coverage as a little goes a long way. I switch off with other sunscreens, but this one is a staple due to it's high SPF.

Nice to find a zinc sunscreen with no other chemicals. Since I work outside year round in the SoCal desert I need good protection and zinc is it. Who cares if it's a little white, white is better then cancer. I'm just working, not in a beauty contest. 😎

It may have the 2 most important ingredients in it you need for the best protection for your face to prevent sun spots, Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide (says Carmindy formerly of "What Not To Wear" and many dermatologists). I apologized, I had misrated this product. The 1st time I use it, I looked like a white ghost. It was a thick white cream that didn't absorb into the skin easily, plus it would leave a white lines along the hairline, its also greasy and tacky, I had wipe it off with a couple of baby wipes or a paper towel. I had never dealt with a product this bad. I was looking for something that the 2 ingredients and that it would serve as a moisturizer. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! I'm sorry for my misrating, my bad!!!

This sunscreen works great and keeps your skin protected, but be prepared to have a white face. Directions say "apply liberally" and if you do that you'll look like a zombie from a silent movie. Even if you apply sparingly there is still a white film left on the skin, but it definitely gives protection from the sun.
