Wonderful blaster, for many ages
I purchased this gun about a week ago and so far it's been great. It does require 4 AA's and some assembly, but that was fine. Assembly may not be completely strait forward however, I myself was hesitant at first to apply too much pressure to the plastic covers. After assembly, those things are not coming off. I am 14 years old, which you may think is a bit old for toy guns, but, well, there is a whole 'nother out there for older nerf enthusiasts. As for ammo capacity, the gun advertises 144 darts, but only 24 are included. It holds the 144 dart max capacity only with 8 18 dart magazines sold separately. I purchased 3 of those as well, and I am also using a 35 round drum I bought with my nerf raider. The new "elite" darts are much ore sturdy than there orange streamlined counterparts, which is worth the premium price for the new blue elites. They rarely fly unstable in a stock gun, and I can't say that about most any dart. The clip advance mechanism is handy, but feels quite rickety, especially with the drums and larger magazines. This is the reason for the 4 star durability rating. As for firing range, this gun takes the lead against most other nerf products. With flat ranges up to about 45' stock, and angled ranges that reach 70', this gun packs a punch. I purchased 4 TrustFire 3v batteries for this gun, and that kicks the range up to around 100' flat, which was the limit of my measuring tape. With the larger 3v batteries, the darts fishtail somewhat, but that is fixed by putting a small metal BB (I used silver) into the tip of the dart through the small whole in the rubber. (You will need a screwdriver.) with the weighted darts and higher powered batteries, only shoot this gun at people who will not care about the fact that with this configuration, the bullets hurt. I take out the high powered batteries when I am in nerf wars with people who I don't personally know closely, or I know will not care. Power wise, this gun gets 5 stars. This gun is great for most older nerfers, but I probably would not recommend it to the very young audience, because this gun is very heavy, noisy, and the bullets can hurt younger audiences. Operation may be a hassle forests experienced users, but after a little bit of practice, this gun is very easy to use. It has a great modding potential as well. I give it 5 stars.

Nerf Hail-Fire Blaster is a MUST HAVE for any Nerf Warrior!
I bought this Nerf gun for my kids about a month or 2 ago and I think it is the coolest Nerf gun my kids currently have. It is easy to assemble and holds 8 N-Strike magazines up to and including the 18 dart magazines, but only comes with 4 6-Dart mags. I ordered the Hail-Fire upgrade kit to get 24 more darts and 4 more 6-dart mags, but in order to get the full 144 dart capacity you will have to spring for 8 of the 18-Darts magazines. The bigger mags do make the gun more cumbersome but the added capacity more than makes up for that. The only minor downside to the Hail-Fire Blaster is that it incorporates what is called an “accelerator trigger” in order to launch the darts; this makes the blaster a little loud and all but eliminates the possibility of a sneak attack on any semi-conscious prey. This drawback is minor for most Nerf battles in my opinion and the added range and accuracy provided by the accelerator is worth the noise. As with any N-strike Nerf gun I strongly advise buying a bunch more N-Strike darts because your kids will lose them faster than a set of gloves in a snow storm. All told, I highly recommend this Nerf gun and think your kids will love adding it to their Nerf arsenal as much as mine did.

Nerf N-Strike Elite Hail Blaster, Yes, I would recommend this toy. It is FUN!
I bought this Nerf N-Strike Elite Hail-Fire Blaster for my 10 yr old grandson, to play with in the house when it is to cold to go outside. Well, I must say, We all had a great time with this toy, It's safe for in doors, and around cats, Who, on occasion were in the line of fire. The loading device worked well. And so did the shooting device. I also bought the refills for it. I'm glad I did, it empties fast, We did take it outside in the snow, the colored bullets were easy to see in the snow. And when you shoot it in the air, you do get a "hail" of fire power. I choose this rating because it is a fun toy. And since I bought this at Christmas, It is still working. I will let you know how well it fairs in a few months, when he takes it outside more often. I would recommend this to any of my friends with children. Peggy, New Hampshire.

They shall block out the sun!
Ever since I saw the media releases for this blaster I have been stockpiling 18-round clips to fill up the rack on the bottom of this blaster, and I have to tell you that while you will get hand cramps emptying it as fast as you possibly can you won't care. While the Hail-Fire is not as accurate as say, the Retaliator or the Rampage it doesn't have to be and that's not what it was designed for. The purpose is contained right there in the title: Hail... Fire: As many darts in the air as possible for as long as you've got ammo. Others have said that this blaster is unweildy and awkward, now while that may be so for a younger user, the profile is MUCH smaller than the photos would suggest it is actually more compact (lengthwise anyways) than the retaliator with its barrel extension. In actuality I found the Hail-Fire a little on the small side. The Good: The hailfire more than lives up to its purpose as a suppressive weapon and with 8, 18-round clips you are going to be suppressing for quite a while. The ranges are more than perfect for indoor work and sufficient for your average Nerf war in the outdoors. Possibly even extendable with voltage-modding. The size is a welcome surprise, 100+ rounds in a compact portable frame is fantastic. Try linking 4 ammo belts together for a vulcan and see how much more unwieldy it gets. The not so good: I can't bring myself to write 'bad' here. There is nothing really wrong with the blaster but it could certainly stand to be a little more sturdy. With 8 18-round clips in the rack pulling the advance handle feels a little rickety and a release button for each clip would help with reload times but these are cosmetic. If you need to reload before the match is over then you're probably doing something wrong. Yes with 8 18-round clips the blaster looks a bit funny, but let's focus on the important thing here: 144 rounds.

mon fils a adoré.Produit de bonne qualité mais un peu cher par rapport à un nerf qui coûte 40 euros pour les fonctions qu'il apporte en plus d'un nerf classique. Attention car il nécessite des grosses piles pour fonctionner.

I was quite sceptical buying this Nerf gun as we already have a number of Nerf guns that take the old style black and orange bullets, however I am pleased to say that the new elite bullets are backwards compatible with older guns. This gun was a real winner for my son on Christmas day, it was simple to put together and really easy to load and use even for a 7 year old. In use the range is awesome, it's very accurate and the semi-automatic firing is super-fast. My fault for not reading every detail on the Amazon page but I was disappointed to find that it only comes with 4 of the 8 clips required to complete its capacity. What's more each clip holds 6 bullets (total capacity of 48 bullets) the Amazon page advertises 144 bullets! this is only possible if you replace the clips you have and buy 8 new clips with a 18 bullet capacity each. 4 more clips with 6 bullet capacity each Hasbro 91848 Nerf - Elite hail-fire Mission kit (around £20) 1 more clip with 18 bullet capacity each Nerf N-Strike Elite 18-Dart Clip (around £9.50) So in summary brilliant gun, loads of fun but can get very expensive with the accessories.
