Gaffer Tape

I love Gaffers tape and have used it for years, even outside of a professional basis. As such I have used a number of different brands. Out of all of them, I like this one the best for its tearability and the ease with which it removes. It is on par with others for adhesion, it works well enough for that.However, most I have used will have random strands of sticky thread when tearing a piece off and after a week or so, removing them leaves a sticky residue. Great stuff!

It's sticky, so pulling it apart is a bit difficult, but if it were easy, I probably wouldn't use it because I'd worry it come off anything I used it on, on its own. So, I gave it 5/5 stars for "Easy to remove" because i can remove it, as I would expect to in terms of difficulty. Working with tape is always a challenge for me. It takes practice to avoid sticking it to yourself or itself. The same thing happens with masking and duct tape, as well as the tape I use to join the semi-permeable membrane in the attic.

Really good gaffer tape. Easy to tear off and it sticks for a long time. Safely removable with no residue. Functional tape for all uses. Matte black is what I have, two inch by 30 roll lasts a long time. Simply great value for gaffing.

The tape seems to stick well ... perhaps a little to well to the label! Removing the label and packaging was difficult, leaving a lot of the label behind. That is going to cause me quite a mess when I use the tape. It's not worth the low price for the inconvenience and mess - I'm shopping elsewhere next time! [Update 2/4/2019] - despite the label issues I had, the tape worked flawlessly. It stuck well and held everything in place, and came off clean during tear-down. The extra bits of the label on the side of the roll didn't come off when using the tape - the label stayed stuck to the roll leaving a clean piece of tape. I also have to compliment EdenProducts again for jumping in quickly to help address this issue. Based on the performance of the tape during the show and EdenProducts' proactive reaction, I WILL be ordering their products for my next show.

Works great for travel stuff. We just stayed in a room that had the brightest thermostat screen in the world. It lit the room so bright. I just put this over it after putting some tissue on some of it so we could still move it to adjust it. At 11pm I fixed something in 2 min. that would have annoyed me all week. Last month I got this after staying in a hotel that had motion lights in the bathroom so when I got up to go potty at 2am bam surface of the sun! So I just put some over the light and moved it during the day. It worked great. It doesn't leave residue and it works great. I just rip off and roll 12 inches of it and throw it in my toiletries bag and I use it almost every trip on something.

There's two kinds of Gaffers tape - Labeled Professional, is more expensive, but worth every inch. Then there's Labelled Professional, Less Expensive, and next to worthless. That's this. This "unsticks" within hours to days of application. Lesson is, call B&H Camera and get your gaffers tape from them. Not cheap, but it's the real deal. Used their gaffers tape on a keyboard to keep it held together - lasted over a decade and many gigs. Had to remove it for repair. Tried this brand to save money = a waste of money - tape came off by the next day. FAIL!

It looks like they listened to the complaints I saw most about the paper label sticking to the side of the roll. Mine arrived with plastic between the paper and the side of roll, making removal easy. Tape feels of quality, but not like the professional gaffer tape. This is more paper feeling than cloth and the adhesive will do the job but isn't super sticky... I wouldn't trust it to hold much, unless you're able to wrap it back onto itself.

I cannot believe that I am writing a review singing the praises about tape, but I found this tape such a joy to use that I just had to. My use-case: I purchased some felt storage bins on Etsy and when they arrived I found they had not strength at all and would not work for my use-case. So I decided to buy some aluminum angle and aluminum sheet and create some frames for them. I used this tape to wrap two angles to create handles, and to cover the sharp edges of the aluminum sheet. The tape worked brilliantly! It creates a really nice looking and nice feeling texture, sticks very well, but does not leave behind any residue if you need to reposition the tape or even remove it. (I don't know if will not leave any residue years from now, but at least in the short term, no residue.) Compare this to duct tape, and you'll never want to buy duct tape again! This tape would be great for wrapping tool handles or any use where a tape needs to really stick and to look and feel great.
