To be honest I got it out of the box but haven't removed the plastic. I put against the couch, threw a sherpa throw over it and its a great ottoman and perfect height for resting your legs/feet or using as a platform for training your new dog. It makes the couch so much more useful (I have an ottoman that came with the couch - what's different is this new ottoman doesn't roll away). Eventually I plan to take off the plastic but for now it's tremendously functional as a seat/platform/ottoman. I originally bought the twin size to make a spare convertible bed-couch. Eventually that'll happen but for now it's perfect as is. I really like the firmness - in the plastic it doesn't deflect at all but is still comfortable. The color is as advertised. The box is nearly impossible to open without destroying it. It is a little awkward to move but still less awkward than a twin mattress. It took me months to decide to buy this. Very glad I chose it! If you like a firm mattress this is for you.

I am a sophomore in college but I do not live in the dorms because it is too expensive. I live in an apartment near by with my friends and sleeping on an air bed every night was not going to work out so I bought one of these futons. Let me tell you, it came 2 days after I placed my order (which is surprisingly quick) and it is unbelievably comfy. It is enough room for me to toss and turn during the night and it is so plush. This is a great futon!!!

Better than expected. Very comfortable. Quite large, need a place to store.

Got 2 of them. Guests say they are better than their own bed
