DW-2860 Wired Elec Wood Chime

I was hesitant to buy a “fancy” doorbell at this price point but 10000% satisfied!!! Absolutely love how grand the sound is, installation was very easy (you will have to install the diode that it comes with and you may have to reverse it once for it to work correctly), and love its simple yet elegant look.

Door bell chime. sounds like real chimes. Very pleased. Easy for me to install. May be a little bit difficult for some.

The Windsor Chime is appreciated. Simple but decent looking and sounding. Cheap and not a speck of wood whatsoever. It is almost entirely made of plastic. Other mistakes in the flawed description, it is not a mechanical door chime. It is electronic.

Easy to install, easy to adjust and easy to hear and looks great.Installed this with a new correct voltage transformer and Ring Doorbell and it works great, but, after installing, every once in a while I would notice a faint, hard to describe, smell that was hard to track.The outside temperatures have since cooled and now I'm not using the heater, AC or ceiling fans that were moving the air around the house.This morning I noticed the smell was much stronger and easy to locate. It is definitely coming from the doorbell. The smell is hard to describe, but it is similar to the smell that comes from ozone machines.I checked the transformer that is in a closet and there is no smell, the wires are cool and the transformer has a normal warm to the touch.At this point, I'm not sure what to think or what to do.I pulled the cover on the doorbell and I feel no heat from anything, so I am baffled why it is emitting this smell.

The chime came quickly. Easy installation was a major point to me. I opened the always difficult clamshell package with a knife being careful not to scratch anything. I read and re read the install instructions. The first job was to install a diode across the terminals of the doorbell button. Yikes. The diode must be installed for this bell to sing Westminster. So no choice. I placed the diode in the tiny space and noted the ring around the diode indicating polarity. I checked the transformer to be putting out 16 volts 1 amp, and noted the old doorbell still worked before I took it out. I struggled to get any sound at all from this new product. I re installed three times never getting the connection from the button at the door through the existing 16v transformer to kick off some kind of tune. Didn't happen. I ask the wife if it was proper to return such an item now freed from its childproof-tight, clamshell enclosure. She said it probably isn't good for the seller to return stuff. But you might 'write a review about it'. So there. One Star. As a post script and hopeful help to the seller, I bench tested this item. The volume control, when turned up to a higher setting than mid setting, distorts and then silences the chimes. The unit works, but when the volume is turned up to a higher setting, the unit does not work. Just a friendly addendum. Still one star.

Replaced a basic 1960s’ doorbell that intermittently worked. I also replaced the transformer and doorbell switch. The cover pulls off and pushes on making access to the selection controls for the rings easy. The option to wire it for a second door is also a nice feature. Basic appearance is nice not to sure how it will hold up under heavy cleaning if needed. Overall it’s a nice bell and is a nice touch to updating the aging interior.

Definitely need to install the diode that comes with the unit. No big deal though. We really like having the digital sound using a powered transformer system. Our original doorbell used electrical relays to operate the chimes. These chimes are close to the same quality of sound.
