Can't Sleep Without It
I've had this product for a year now, and I use it every night. It is inexpensive and I don't usually love ConAir products, but honestly I was desperate for something to help me sleep so I gave this a try. I am SO glad I did! There are ten different sounds including one that sounds like a rainforest which for the life of my I can't understand (all that chattery bug noise is creepy to me) but enough water/rain/ocean sound choices to keep me satisfied. It works as a dual alarm clock & am/fm radio, but I could care less about those features. All I need is a machine that will make a steady rain/ocean/waterfall noise ALL NIGHT, and this does it with one button press. I turn the screen away from the bed as the light is a little bright on either setting, but that's my biggest complaint. It's compact enough to pack for vacation, which I do because I honestly cannot sleep without this. Volume adjusts so it's quiet enough not to bother your partner if it's on your side of the bed, but can be loud enough to drown out the kids and the dog if you need an afternoon nap.

Great Alarm Clock
Delivered VERY quickly and works great. The numbers are larger than the one it replaced and the choice of sounds is adequate for my needs. It took me a couple of weeks to get used to where all the buttons were, but now I can manage them even in the dark. My favorite is waking to the sound of waves, but there are a couple others that I like almost as much. I needed one with a battery backup, since there are short power outages that could mess up my morning...and this clock has preformed well in that regard, as well. Super value! November 22, 2012 I still love this alarm clock! Still works great, battery backup has gotten me to work despite power outages. Only problem I experienced was when my cat walked on it and changed the sound selection. A different sound choice may require a louder volume setting... So, a change in the selection might mean that it is not loud enough to wake you up. I lucked out and woke up anyway, but not because of the sound. Now the clock sits on a shelf where he can't walk.

Good Variety of Sounds, If You Can Handle Loops
We actually initially bought this for my husband and I to sleep. We are young enough to still be apartment dwellers and being able to sleep through noisy neighbors is important! PROS: the number of sounds are great, it gets nice and loud, and the buttons are easy to navigate in the dark. CONS: most sounds are on a noticeable loop, it is REALLY bright even on its dim setting, it's vulnerable to your cell phone My pros are self-explanatory, but I'll expand on my cons, especially since I still like this enough to not only give it a four-star rating but we bought the exact same machine to put in our new son's nursery. The problem we've found is that the only sound not on a loop that is noticeable that we cannot sleep is the falling rain sound. Otherwise you find yourself listening to the loop. We like the falling rain sound, though, and it really helps us sleep through the HORRIBLY loud upstairs neighbors with their FOUR HOURS EVERY NIGHT temper tantrum throwing 3 year old, so thank goodness! Additionally, it's really bright--others have said it because it's true! But for us, we don't use this for the clock (we have a different one that shines the numbers onto the ceiling) so I just point it away from the bed on my night stand and it's no big deal. Lastly, and I can't fault this particular machine too much for this since it seems to be common in many electronics, but one gripe I have is that if I plug in my iPhone to charge overnight (which I typically do, over-charing the battery be darned) then sometimes it makes this horrible, squelching interference sound. It drives me batty! I have to keep them at least 8 inches or so apart and the cords to each machine cannot touch one another in any way. It may be a small thing, but since these are two next-to-the-bed staples then it can be annoying! Still, overall, we really do like this machine. For the price it's a solid deal, and like I said, it's great for the transition from sleeping in our room to sleeping in his own room for our son. Plus, if you like bright lights (and I do have to say that for being bright, at least it casts a blue glow and not red or green!) and/or don't mind loops, or can more easily get used to them, this is great for you! Otherwise, you might want to try something else.

Interesting product - Poorly engineered
Although inexpensive and interesting, I cannot recommend this product for a number of reasons. I bought it primarily for its nature sounds to help mask my tinnitus when I go to sleep. While the sounds are OK, the sound loops are not very long and are therefore annoyingly repetitive. The quality of the sounds vary. The worst are the heartbeat and the thunderstorm. Why a company would include a heartbeat as a background sound is a mystery to me. The thunderstorm is unrealistic probably due to its lack of sufficient bass. Also, the waterfall sound is too loud and the summer night sound sounds just like my tinnitus! The forward-most button on top dims the clock display just a little and behind it is the power button for the radio and the sounds. I think the buttons should have been reversed, but maybe that's just my take on things. My biggest issue is with the clock display --- perhaps the worst I've ever seen on any product! The numbers are black on a blue background. Unfortunately, the blue background is too dark and too bright to provide contrast with the numbers and therefore they are hard to see. Also, like some flat screen TV's, the viewing angle for the clock's display is limited, especially in the vertical plane. Finally, the blue background is much too bright even when dimmed. While it's not bright enough to read a book with it, it does light up the room too much and interferes with falling asleep. It even bothers my cat! The only solution is to face the entire device 180 degrees away from you, but not against a reflective wall. Unfortunately, you cannot tell the time when you do that.

I was looking for something to replace the sound of the fan in my room. I noticed now that summer is ending I had gotten use to the sound of our fan, and required it to sleep. I wanted a sound machine that could compensate. The while noise setting did the trick. I am not sure why so many state they had a hard time programming the time and alarms. It seemed pretty straight forward to me, I was able to figure it out without the instructions. Great purchase.

I had to block the display right from the start cause even on the lowest setting it was so bright that it lit up the whole bedroom and I couldn't sleep, but I worked around that. After 1 year of use it died, woke up this morning and the alarm hadn't gone off, display was off, nothing worked. The last alarm clock/sound machine I had lasted 10 years and only cost $30, this one was $45, I should've returned it from the start, too late now, buyer beware of this item.

I like thesenoise machines, my kida always want it on, either water fall or white noise. Had two units for a while, one started to have issues getting sound to go, the replacemebt I ordered, had to push the volume dial to even get sound but I am persistent and want a good one for my kid so just returning thw one I just received and waiting for a replacement, no big deal. Other wise happy with the product and the end result of what my kids like

Great turn around time re delivery! Nice design; however, the time display is on a light blue background light and I would prefer orange or green numbering. It doesn't take up a lot of space and relatively easy to learn; however, the sounds don't sound authentic at all. I was disappointed with that feature and it was the main reason why I bought it as my other two clock alarms served their purpose and work great. 10 different sounds which is a great choice, but they need to be more authentic!
