I used the brackets to install a transmission cooler. These are, indeed, stainless steel. The holes needed drilled out in order to accept factory M8 hardware. Although I had no trouble forming these into the exact shape for my application, I did make the mistake of bending one at the hole and it showed signs of cracking (visible from the other side - I failed to take a picture before installation). Despite this, the bracket still felt rigid enough to install. Otherwise, the only general thing I would recommend is to immediately dispose of the included screws unless you are okay risking one of them shearing off in your wall/work piece during installation. It has become a rule of mine based on most included hardware of Amazon items consisting of absolutely the cheapest material available these days. Do yourself a favor and use good quality locally sourced screws.

The braces appear to be a quality product that will provide the strength needed for the job. I'm bracing two boards butted against each other to form a tall frame. I just need the two pieces not to bend or come apart at the joint. The only downside is that I wanted braces that were narrower. I had to make do with these and they extend slightly beyond the edge of the wood frame. But they'll serve. Of course, the frame will eventually be tacked in place around the front of a wood box that will serve as a pantry shelf unit. So, the braces won't be under any stress except during transport and installation of the frame.

I have used these before. This time I used them to secure a couple of cut 2x4 pieces to the frame of my bed. This 6-inch size was perfect. I chose to use my own screws that were a bit longer. I love these brackets. They always come in handy.

I consider this a positive, but wanted to warn folks too. If you're going to use these as they come, you'll be fine. If you need to make a few of the holes larger, unless you have much better drill bits than I have (Dewalt & Craftsman), you might have a problem. I dulled three drill bits, one was seriously malformed in the attempt. Ultimately, I succeeded by using my carbide tipped masonry drill bits. These brackets are seriously strong and tough!

I expected the items to arrive perfectly flat and straight (laser cut in factories) and free from scratches as they are newly fabricated. Instead, all but one flat bar arrived bent and full of scratches.
