Wow! My kids LOVE the recipes.
I loved reading Vegan Lunch Box, as I have many cookbooks, but I also felt a special connection with the author because of her great writing style. As a lousy cook myself, I felt so encouraged by reading her recipes, they seemed so simple, so straightforward, and they were real food. I was a little afraid to actually try a recipe, lest failure result and discouragement set in as had happened so many times before with various other cookbooks. Well, I'm happy to write that my Vegan Lunch Box dishes were a success! My kids asked for second and third helpings of the Almond Sweet Potatoes and the Heart Beet Salad, amazing! My husband loved the autumn leaf tarts, although as a meat eater he said he would have liked a bit of chicken in them. We also made the gingerbread cookies, so simple, so fun to make with kids, so healthy. I even was able to make the icing, another success. Although initially it seemed like a failure because the icing was all clumpy, I pressed on knowing that Jen McCann had timetested all the recipes, and the result was great icing! We even colored it pink for valentines day, and there was so much dough that half is sitting in the freezer for another day (hope it freezes well). So, to make a long story short, I am thrilled with Vegan Lunch Box and have found it really great for a non-vegan and beginner cook like me. The blog is great too. ;-)

It's very unique
I ordered this book last week and it was scheduled to arrive on Monday. Fortunately for me it arrived on Saturday. I was so excited. I am Junior in high school and I have been wanting to show my friends at school that I eat more than just pb&j for lunch. I wanted something that was quick and easy for me to make in the morning. Some of these recipes are very simple and others can be prepared the night before. The ones that are a bit longer to make i will save for a day when I am not to busy. Hopefully these recipes will impress my friends so much that they might try the vegetarian or vegan route. I will just have to see how this goes. Wish me luck! :)

Great book!
I am so happy with this book. It has something for everyone and really, even though I haven't tried all of the recipes, I doubt it will lead me wrong. It's a very clear and concise recipe book which makes it easy to read and follow the recipes. I have definitely dog-eared over half the recipes that I can make right now without having to make a trip to the store. I like that it uses items that are easily accessible as well as inexpensive. It's definitely a lunchbox or bento type book, so for some the portions may seem small. However, for myself and my kiddo, they are just right. This book will definitely be staying in my bookshelf!

Must have book with great ideas for kids and adult lunches
Having looked at the blog at [...]a number of times, or should I say drooled over the blog, I finally purchased the book. I have to say this is an amazing book with fantastic recipes, photos, ideas, tips and hints that are great for kids and adults. I can't wait to fill my new lunchbox with some of these vegan goodies!!!

Good recipes, for dinner
The recipes are very good, but not as packed lunches. Maybe I’m picky, but I don’t want to eat cold tacos or cold Caribbean beans and rice. I was expecting more easy recipe ideas that are meant to be eaten cold in a packed lunch. If I had access to a microwave at lunch I wouldn’t need lunch box recipes. There are also no pictures with the recipes. Just a few picture pages in the middle of the book. I have gotten a few good ideas from the book though, and a lot of good dinner recipes.

love the sushi
My son can be a stubborn, picky eater so we often try different recipes searching for what he likes that day. One thing he seems to always love is sushi and this book had some neat sushi ideas. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for healthy, kiud-friendly recipes.

Not for the lunchbox
No, this is not vegan LUNCHBOX recipes at all. It's just a mishmash of random vegan recipes that aren't particularly child-friendly but most importantly not lunchbox friendly. It's also a lot of prep and work for these meals. I figured I could throw last night's dinner in a lunchbox, but I don't really want to send my kid with inappropriate temperature food to school. And the foreword was gag-inducing. Spare me!

Simply Lovely Bento Box Ideas
I stumbled on McCann's blog, Vegan Lunch Box, recently, and thought her lunch box ideas were so lovely that I got the book. I love the emphasis on visually appealing food, but I'm giving the book 4 stars because I'm finding it just a little hard to navigate. The menu suggestions are all in the front, grouped by region, but then the recipes are all in the back, grouped by type of dish (including a whole section on garnishes!). What a whirlwind taste tour of the planet's foods: if you are tired of the same old PB&J day after day, I highly recommend this book to liven up your lunches.

Best vegan lunchbox-book on the market (no joke)
I have plenty of vegan lunchbox-books at home, but this is the best. It contains many healthy international recipe-menues and is very diverse. The other one, "vegan lunchbox" by the same author, contains too many unhealthy typical American proposals like pretzels and treats, but this is the very best of all vegan lunchbox-books ever! And in addition: Yes, it contains photos! They're in the middle of the book. Don't lead other reviews mislead you by misinformation!

It's all meh, not the best vegan cookbook
I would have liked to enjoy this book since this author is the only author of vegan bento books that I know of, outside of Japan. I chose this book rather than the first one she wrote because I heard there were less fake meats in it. I only tried about six recipes, but they were mostly bland and unappetizing. Some took almost no time, some took a lot. I did not follow the menus because I did not have time to cook three recipes for a single bento. It is not worth the trouble for me to try more recipes from this book for the moment, and I don't feel this author is the most competent cook. I'd rather browse through my favorite non-bento vegan cookbooks looking for recipes that can be used in bentos. And wish that editors would translate Japanese vegan bento cookbooks.

Hin und her gerissen
