There was a variety in quality, tone and a couple were cracked but they were affordable and perfect for the craft that I used them for. I would recommend these and I would buy them again for a musical art-making activity

I bought the 12 pack of flutes tuned to C . Surprisingly a number of them have clear sound , mostly the bottom 3 notes . The top 3 notes are different pitches and not uniform to each other 12 flutes) but i am very happy with this purchase ! I bought 9 for my grandchildren and I am keeping one for myself ! I washed /wiped ( and I suggest you do too ) the mouth piece off with listering mouthwash and the excess color comes off just on the cloth - but no sign of color fade on the flute , so thats good ! They still look amazing and sound great ! And now are de germed for my family's use ! Excellent price too !

I would give this product a zero star if possible. This is my worst purchase from Amazon and I could not believe Amazon actually sells this product. There are not real Dizi or flute. All products are made of crapy bamboo stem. All of them had been coated with a thick layer of unknown substance with very strong smell. We washed them many many times but still could not get rid of the smell. You really can not help but thinking what the manufactuers had done with these bamboos. You can not give them to your children. I am wondering if Amazon can accept a free return... Stay away this junk.

Years ago, while volunteering at a wildlife refuge and giving tours on elk during the rutting season, my mentor had a rather expensive whistle he used to call for the elk. I had one of these bamboo flutes in the house as they were a toy for my son. Out of curiosity, and hearing him blow on it one day, I practiced with this to imitate a elk bugling call. I got it close enough to work and when on a tour one day, and with my mentor present, I pulled out this flute and used it to get a response from an elk. He was amazed that this little flute could do that. Now, years later, I am back in the area of that wildlife refuge. Rutting season is just now starting for the elk and I've been practicing again with this flute to make elk bugling calls close enough to get a response. I'm close enough to give it a try. Since there were so many flutes in the package, I kept two for myself and donated the rest to a local child care center.

Was used as a breakaway flute in out production of Pippin. We prescored the Flutes before they where used on stage. They even sounded half way decent.

I purchased these as party favors for my daughters' Zelda birthday party. I needed flutes that would give a woodland/elvish feel and these did the trick. They were a little cheaper than the plastic recorders and the theme worked better, so I thought I'd try them out even though they had a bad review. They are bamboo, so they won't last long with your typical child handling them, but what party favor does? These will disappoint if you are looking for a real flute (as the other review said), but for something like party favors, I thought it was a good value. Oh, make sure to order early and check them when they arrive. I ordered 2 dozen and only 1 was broken when I unwrapped them. But if more had broken during shipping it would have been bad news b/c I didn't order with time for an exchange before the party. Hope this is helpful. :)

We are novices as this, but we could hardly get a sound other than wind and the occasional whistle. However they are built nicely and look great!
