Very good fast access safe but it has a few issues
UPDATE 12/16-2024. I still love the safe but found one issue that all users need to be very aware of. You absolutely have to keep the fingerprint reader clean or the safe won’t open. It will of course open using the code. Our burglar alarm went off in the middle of the night andI tried to open the safe with my fingerprint. No joy. Opened with the code okay but failure to open was a shock at that moment. In the end it was a cat that knocked over something heavy in the family room that set off glass break sensors. A lesson well learned. I bought this safe to replace an old 2015 biometric safe from a different manufacturer. Since I only received the safe today, these are my immediate impressions: GOOD The finger print scanner is very fast and having scanned several fingers and multiple scans of my left thumb, the fingerprint I normally use, it has been pretty flawless. The safe itself is pretty sturdy and the controls ie buttons and fingerprint scanner seem to be of good quality. The foam interior provides a good hold on my pistol, a Walther PPQ 9mm 4 inch. I haven’t tried other pistols like my Glock 17, 19 or my Walther PPQ Q5 Match but I will and will report findings. If you have a light / laser then you’re going to have to cut the foam to accommodate it. No big deal really. I’ve done that before. BAD The safe unit is held to the bracket with a single thumb twist screw. Really? That’s mad. It should have at least two. It means the safe can and will rock when you touch it and that’s not good. I plan to use some little rubber feet between the safe and the bracket to reduce this movement. The battery compartment design is the worst I’ve ever seen. It takes four AAA batteries. It’s fine so long as you have teeny hands and fingers as my darling Japanese wife has, but if you’re a big Irishman like me, with fingers like big sausages, you’re going to be doing a great deal of cursing and swearing when you install the batteries. Have a shot of bourbon or Irish whiskey at the ready! There is no interior light in the safe. At night this means you’ll be fumbling in the dark after the safe opens. I have an interior light in my old safe and I’m going to miss it. I strongly suggest the manufacturer deal with this issue. I mean an LED and switch isn’t that expensive. All in all, it’s a pretty decent fast access pistol safe and is good value for money. Hopefully it continues to be that way.

Simple and works well. Buttons can be silent, or can beep if you like. Mechanism is not silent
It works well. Mounting it is a PITA as you have to access screws inside the box to mount it. Also changing the batteries is a PITA as it's awkward to reach into the box to get at the battery, and it's halfway in the box. Having said that, of course the mounting and battery compartment should be INSIDE the box. But just pointing out it's a bit of a pain for when you mount it and when you have to change batteries. It also comes with a round lock. I'm sure people will say that any good thief can easily pick any lock or defeat any electronic lock. Yes, sure, so concealment of the safe is important. However it will definitely keep visitors from opening it. And especially children who are over will not open it. You can teach your own kids gun safety, but you can't teach every friend who comes over. Also you want it to be discrete anyway so they shouldn't stumble on it, even if they are playing hide and seek and thing hiding behind your bed is a good idea. I added a video so you could hear that even with the button beeps off, the opening mechanism is not silent, it makes a whirring sound. Not a huge deal. It opens fast, as you can see. Punching in the wrong combo locks you out for a short time (less than a minute) What I don't like is that at the front the RPNB logo is very shiny and makes it obvious. Not that everyone knows what RPNB means, but the shininess does draw your eye to the logo and thus the safe. I colored mine in with a black sharpy, but since it is sort of embossed onto a small plate it's still visible. Some electrical tape would fix that. All in all, it does what it's supposed to. Allow you to store a pistol discretely and safely. It is CA DOJ approved too, so that's nice considering the new safe storage laws coming into effect in California in 2025. I don't know if it's visible in my video, but I found that after mounting the safe, there was a bit of wiggle between the safe and the mounting plate. I fixed that by cutting a piece of the shipping box that the safe came in and crammed it next to the safe. A temporary fix made permanent.

Solid construction and easy to set up
Seems to be priced right. Easy to set up and the triple ability to open it is nice - fingerprint, key, or code. I mounted it into a stud near the front door. The supplied screws are meant for wood mounting, so you’ll need longer screws to go through drywall and into a stud. I only used two of the four screws. Make sure you leave plenty of space for the door to swing down and you don’t hit a windowsill or something else. Nice blue light inside. Fits my HK 9 nicely.
