Review: Perfect for Persian rice and tahdig - This rice cooker works great for making Persian rice. The rice comes out fluffy and the tahdig turns out nice and crispy. It’s simple to use and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. If you enjoy Persian-style rice, this is a very reliable cooker. I’ve been very happy with it so far.
Review: Crispy Tadig Rice Every Time - I have both the 8 cup and the 5 cup Pars rice cookers. The smaller is easier to use because you put the rinsed rice, water, salt and oil, topped by a paper towel between the lid and pot. Turn the knob and let the rice cook. It comes out crispy every time with little effort. I use less time for smaller rice portions. The larger rice cooker works totally different. You have to boil the pre-measured water in the rice cooker first. Then, you add the rinsed rice, salt and oil, topped with the paper towel between the lid and pot. If you cook an entire pot of 8 cups of rice, I recommend cooking it for at least 1 hour to get the golden crispy color. Do use a lot of oil if you plan to cook the rice past 1 hour to make the sides even more crispy. To serve, I put a glass pie pan on top of the pot of rice when ready. Close the pie pan on top of the pot tightly with heat-safe mits. Quickly flip the finished rice onto the pie pan. Note: the rice cooker works on booth basmati and jasmine rice. Photo shown was my first experiment cooking 2 cups of jasmine rice in the 5 cup rice cooker. The measurements in the manual work for both kinds of rice. I don't know how to make tadig on the stove, so this rice cooker is an amazing tool in the kitchen if you are preparing many dishes to go with it. It really saves me time.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you make a lesser amount than the full 6 cups (not fill the cooker).**
A: I usually make 2-3 cups. Never filled it up to 6 and I've been using it for 5 years. I think the most I used was 4 cups and it seemed really full to me.Hope that helps

**Q: Can I make Tahchin with it? Or the yougurt egg tahdig?**
A: Can somebody expand on the above? Is it that I make the rice first with water and salt, and then when the water is gone strain it carefully into a collander, mix up the egg/yogurt/butter or oil/saffron or tumeric and put it at the bottom of the pan, add the rice carefully on top, and turn the machine back on? If that's it, for how long do you cook it after the rice is returned? Can somebody please explain this a bit better with amounts for some amount of rice (4 cups or whatever) and times and more specific procedure? Thanks.

**Q: A wider pot means more tadig, how wide are these pots? If I make two cups of dry rice, shoulď I buy a 7 cup or 10 cup?**
A: This size cooks two cups of dry rice for the two of us. Sometimes a little left over. But I would way it is enough for two people. A 7 cup or 10 cup rice cooker makes enough rice for a party. Plus if two put 2 cups of dry rice in that large of a rice cooker, all you get is tahdig.

**Q: How do i make green rice ( polo sabzi ) with this rice cooker?**
A: @M. Shahsavar, How long do you boil the water? 10 minutes? I assume in the hottest setting? then drain? How much water do you add back in? What temp do we turn on the cooker back on at? 40 minutes setting? I've had a Pars cooker for years and I find it hard to get good details for cooking because all of my Persian friends tell me that they do it and don't think about it. But when you are not raised in a Persian household; it is impossible to do it on your own. Thanks

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Crispy Tadig Rice Every Time

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works like a charm- I am HAPPY I bought it.
*by C***K on March 25, 2018*

Outstanding! Made perfect rice with wonderful tahdig. I've made Persian rice since the '70s and never satisfied with crunch in the oven or on the stove, this works exactly as you would want. I read many of the comments and all were helpful, some suggested trial and error, but I had guests for dinner, so I used 5 of the "cups" per the one provided( I bought the 7 cup), washed the rice throughly, soaked it one hour then added the chopped dried apricots and chopped dried sour cherries, 2 tsp salt. Into the pot I put 1/2C ghee, and the suggested amount of water. Turned the dial to 60 minutes and waited until it just came to a boil, added all the rice and fruit, used a coffee mug to compress the rice, turned the dial back to 60, the keep warm 45 minutes. Came out of the pot perfectly, no sticking at all, and perfect dark gold crunchy tahdig. I'm thrilled with this no hassle and dependable cooker for Persian rice. Also happy that it cooked the jeweled rice so that now I know I can't any version I like. The 5 "cups" made plenty for a party of 6 big eaters, so I see no problem with the cup measure that is included with the cooker-a lot of people complained, but, I don't get why, just add one extra of their cups and you'll be fine. BTW- I saw a lot of folks wanting to know about brown Basmati rice, so here's a tip: Wash the brown rice well and soak in plenty of water over night, drain and continue as for white rice, the timing will work for the soaked brown rice with the same timing as white rice, this goes for brown Jasmine rice too, I have no idea if it would work for regular brown rice, never tried it, rarely use it.
