Tales from 1,001 Nights: Aladdin, Ali Baba and Other Favourites (Penguin Clothbound Classics)

I have not read the book yet but the quality of the book is awesome. Its a beautiful book, its a hard cloth like cover with lighter blue print over a dark blue backing. The pages are lined with gold and come with a ribbon book mark. Very happy with my purchase so far!

This is a must-read for anyone who has never read it. I first read it when I was 34 years old. The story telling takes you away to a wild adventure of your own. Rarely, have I had more fun reading a book.

Penguin cloth bound classics are some of my favorite editions to give as gifts. With that said, I should have done my due diligence before purchasing this particular story. The Lyons translation includes sensual language and sexual imagery—as one should expect when purchasing any version of the Arabian Nights which hasn’t been abridged/retold for children. I may keep this for my own reference library, but I’m still looking for a retelling that can be shared with children.

I bought this for my husband as a Christmas gift. It arrived in great condition despite being used. Looks like new. The cover is exquisite and the pages have golden edges. Makes the book look so elegant.

The book had a few errors in many of the sentences, which should be further revised for a better read. Yet, the illustrious writings captivated my attentiveness throughout the plot. I really love following the storyline of this book. And I look forward to reading it through and through once more.

A truly beautiful cloth-bound edition of one of the most unforgettable collections of stories in history. There is a haunting quality about these tales which never leaves you. Recommended both for bedtime stories, and for adults wishing to reacquaint themselves with these timeless legends.

This is an elegant hardcover (clothbound) collector's edition of the Tales from 1001 Nights. Though an abridged edition, you could find all the necessary Tales of the Arabian Nights in it. There are several English translations of the Nights available in the market. (The most famous is Sir Richard Burton's 1885 translation; but its archaic literary style makes it heavy going for the modern reader.) What makes the Lyons' translation preferable to the others is its modern, contemporary narrative style. There is a paperback edition of the same book available in Penguin Classics, but I urge you to get this hardback edition coz a classic you're not going to throw away once you've done reading, right? These Penguin Clothbound Classics are a delight to have them in a bookshelf, that I can assure you. Happy Reading!
