I knew before buying this adapter that you cannot focus to infinity on a Nikon DSLR and that was OK for me. For anyone who buys this adapter and is disappointed by this fact, you should have done a better job doing your research first. With any wide angle, or medium tele lens, these are good for closeups only. On telephoto lenses, you can actually get some good distance between you and your subject, but it will not focus to infinity on most lenses. I am sure there are some oddball ones out there, but I have not run across any. This works perfectly on my Nikon D7000 with all M42 screwmount lenses I own. I've tried it with 4 Asahi Super Takumars (a 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 105mm), a Yashica Yashinon DX 50mm, and a Helios 44-2. On most "AUTO" lenses with a stop down pin, you need to screw the adapter onto the lens first, before attaching it to your camera. To the guys who wrote reviews saying the pin interfered with the adapter, or that when installed, the adapter was wobbly, you didn't do it right. On every single lens I have, when I screwed the adapter to the lens first, then attached the assembly to my Nikon D7000, it mounted securely. I felt entirely comfortable walking around with the 105mm Takumar hanging off my camera with no worry. A few other reviewers say that it can be difficult to get this adapter off after installing it. That has never happened to me. I have taken all of my M42 lenses on and off my camera a variety of times, and never once did any of them get stuck. The outer rim of this adapter has a texture that makes it easy to grip. If you need to use excessive strength to install this onto your camera or lenses, you are either doing it wrong, or have some other adapter. Finally, the quality of your images on your Nikon camera is entirely unaffected by this adapter (other than the lack of infinity focus). If you have a high quality, and sharp M42 prime lens, and you attach it to your Nikon DSLR, you will get pictures that rival that of any Nikkor lens made, for a fraction of the price. I strongly recommend the Asahi-Pentax Super Takumars. The 105mm f/2.8 specifically is an awesome pairing for a Nikon DSLR.

Works as described. I use this on a Nikon D610 x Helios 44-2 (58mm f/2) lens. With this combination it does focus close, but I don't have any issues with the lens touching the mirror like others have reported. (It may be a difference with full frame vs crop body cameras). Having it opens up creative possibilities with M42 lenses.

I like this product, it seems to be well made, the lenses I have (Pentax mount or M42) fit the adapter well, the adapter fits my Nikon D3300 just fine, and the vendor's delivery was great. However (and this is a big however) the adapter will NOT work on any lens that has Automatic aperture - you can tell if your lens is automatic by looking at the bottom of the lens (where it screws into the camera body) and locating a spring loaded pin. If your lens has an automatic aperture, there is no facility for the adapter to force the lens into manual mode hence the only aperture available is full aperture, i.e. 22. That means that lighting is off and focus in dark light is off and basically all the lenses I have cannot be used with this adapter. That doesn't mean I rate the adapter poorly, after all it is doing what it is advertised to do. I simply have no manual aperture lenses hence I cannot use any of my M42 mount lenses on my Nikon D3300. Disappointing as that may be. Remember too that the adapter is not made to support auto-focus so you will have to manually focus the lens, which did not enter into this review since I figured that out before I ordered it. The reason I rated Picture Quality and Auto Focus low is that I could not get the aperture setting correct nor could I get auto-focus. That does not mean the adapter is bad, it simply is not made to support either feature. If you have a fully manual lens (aperture and focus) this adapter will work fine - hence the 4 star review. If you (like me) want the aperture support with manual setting of aperture and focus plus the ability to have infinity focus (this adapter doesn't support infinity focus) then I suggest looking at the Vendor's website for the Fotodiox Pro Lens Mount Adapter - M42 Screw Mount SLR Lens to Nikon F Mount SLR Camera Body with Infinity Focus Glass. A bit more money, but worth the added cost for total support of your vintage lenses. Update: I received the M42 to Nikon F adapter with infinity focus today and am glad to say it works perfectly. I am now able to use the lenses from my older film camera (Mamiya/Sekor) with my Nikon D3300. Still manual focus and manual aperture, but that's not a problem.

If you have screw-mount lenses for your camera that you want to use, and this adapter will attach to your camera, definitely get it. I will tell you this: Make sure you know how to use manual settings. It is crucial that you KNOW HOW TO USE MANUAL SETTINGS. This is not a problem for me. I only ever use manual settings, but I know that a lot of people like to use auto. Anyway, there's not much to say about this product other than the fact that it works well with your screw-mounts. I will say this, though... just as if you are changing out any other lenses, make sure you keep the opening on the body of the camera facing down, and that there isn't a fan or something blowing in the direction of the opening, because you might get dust or something inside the body or on the mirror while changing lenses. Anyway, like I said, if you have any screw-mount lenses and want to use them with your modern camera, this will do the trick, assuming it fits your camera. I didn't have any problems with it. Just make sure you screw it all the way on until it gives a click, otherwise it might twist off when you use the focus.

This worked fine with all the lenses I tried. Yeah, no infinity focus of course, but at least it works well with a tight fit that can be removed without too much hassle.

Interestingly enough, Nikon cameras are one of those which aren't recommend for use with old Praktica Bayonet (PB) lenses. It has something to do with the distance between the sensor, and the first element on the back of the camera lens. Don't quote me, but I think this distance is 2.2mm too far out, where as the likes of... let's say, Canon, it's only 0.45mm. When I first saw this adapter a few years back, I must say, I was definitely 'umm-ing and arr-ing.' Especially when the point above is taken into account. Just this week, I decided to take a gamble and give this one a go. I do have a Canon sitting around, collecting dust, and I do have a large number of Praktica PB lenses, and of course the PB-EOS adapter rings Which all seem to work perfectly fine. As I said, my Canon is collecting dust and is of no use to me. I plan on selling it. So what better timing aye? Well bad timing on my part, I've seen the price of this rise over the years, so why not nab it before it goes up again. And I could have probably sold the Canon sooner... Actually, scrap that thought. Anywho... I hooked this up to my Nikon D5300, and tried a handful of the PB lenses out. Most of them looked gorgeous. And that was partly the reason I bought those lenses in the first place. The 135mm 2.8 seems to be the best achiever where focus range is concerned. I was able to focus to infinity and beyond (like buzzlightyear.) And I'm glad, this one is by far one of the nicest lenses I've owned. My 50mm 1.8 on the other hand seemed to struggle the most with focus range, but then that lens has always been trouble for me. And with the other lens I tested (the 28-200mm 3.5) that thing appeared to reach infinity focus at the top end of the focal length, but at 28mm it was dire. Maybe there's an issue with the lens. I did once upon a time modify the focus range to allow for macro focus at 28mm. Maybe I didn't put something back in the right place... Build quality of the adapter is top notch, solid metal, and what I believe is a 'solid' glass focal length correction lens. Fitted on the camera, there is zero play, and feels like a solid connection is being made. One great feature I love about this adapter, over my Canon adapters is the fact that I can remove the lenses whilst leaving the adapter on the camera body. So it makes lens swapping worry free with a significantly lower risk of dust entering the camera body (remember there is a correction lens built into the adapter... handy!) I might even buy some more PB lenses... Maybe? Tl;dr: Fantastic adapter, with superb build quality, which works exactly the way it was intended (to mount PB lenses to a modern Nikon DSLR) Tested with the 135mm f/2.8, I have been able to reach infinity focus. Highly recommended. Pictures are on the way!

j'utilise cette monture avec des objectifs praktica monture B sur mes boitiers, Nikon F (argentique) D40 et D850 numérique je laisserai bien la bague à demeure sur chaque objectif praktica si je pouvais en acheter d'autre mais Amazon est en rupture de stock et ne sait pas si il se réapprovisionnera pour cet article. On peut toujours croiser les doigts pour qu'Amazon continu le suivi de cet article.
