have to connect separately
If you power these on in the same room at the same time, one remote will control both bots. They have a huge range so you have to take them into separate rooms and power them on separately to be able to battle with them. Other than that, my 5 year old grandson thought this was the perfect birthday gift. He loved it!

They’re great
Bought these to use in the arena we already have! They work great. There’s definitely some force behind the hammer so watch out for little fingers/kids. Like I said on the other ones, they have to be paired one at a time or they both pair to one remote and you have to pair them each time you play. A little inconvenient but still worth 5 stars to me.

The Toy Has Survived the Week After Christmas
My husband and son are big fans of Battlebots, so this seemed like an ideal gift. After digging into the reviews on all of the available options, I chose the Biteforce and Blacksmith pair because they seemed to have the fewest problems right out of the box. I decided against the pricier arena set because most reviewers complained about the fold down the middle causing problems and the additional cost just didn't seem worth it. For Christmas morning, my husband received a square of plywood and my son received some flexible tubing (the looks on their faces were priceless!). It was enough to get them started. After some experimentation with surfaces, they are constructing their own arena. The bots worked well and were sturdier than I expected based on some of the reviews. As seems to be the case with the pairs, one bot seems to have an advantage over the other, but in this pair it isn't overwhelming. They have had a blast playing with them! If you buy the set, definitely order replacement button batteries for the remotes at the same time. One of the remotes died after the second day of a few hours use. These aren't super expensive button batteries and Amazon has them for the best price. Because I had read many reviews, I told them to pair the bots with the remotes in separate rooms and they didn't have any difficulties. I had my doubts about the product given the cost and the negative reviews, but decided to risk it particularly since both of them are good at tinkering with things. I'd say that this might be a better gift for older kids. For us, it was the hit of Christmas. I have not been compensated in anyway for this review.

Great for ALL ages
Alright, I'm 29 and I've loved battlebots since Tombstone was a terror. These two bots here are definitely worth the price point. Blacksmith with it's quick hammer is a better version than the previous Beta. The hammers power is definitely enough to be a problem in the arena for others. Biteforce, a fan favorite, is definitely a great replica. The saw and front forks are definitely enough to cause some terror in the arena. All and all we like to get together with the boys, drink and destroy eachothers robots. Definitely give it a thought if you have a mancave

A ton of fun and good times
These little Robots are Awesome!! They are really like the Battlebots they are made in the image of. They pack a punch and make it possible to recreate my favorite battles. My son and I have so much fun with these.

Remote didn't work when we opened. * See updated review below...
I bought this for my grandson's birthday. From the moment he opened it one of the remotes would not work. We contacted Amazon and they had us try all kinds of things and it still won't work. They just gave us the email address of the manufacturer and hopefully they will replace the remote quickly. I'll update the review depending on how quickly and effectively the problem is resolved.* Contacted the people at Hexbug and they were very quick to respond to my email. Offered to send a replacement remote control without a hitch. It is scheduled to arrive in 5-7 business days. As long as it arrives as promised, I am very pleased with the customer service. My grandson loves the toy.

We have a bunch
The match ups are never even, end game is great, the other is weak. But we have had hours of fun with these and the big arena.

Great idea, but not for the price.
Great idea in theory, but the remotes are finicky. The bots don’t always need a hit before they fly apart. We now play with them w/o using the remotes.
