## Overview

Conserv Safe Coin Solvent is a specialized 4-ounce liquid solution designed to safely remove surface contaminants like dirt, grease, inks, and PVC residue from metal and plastic coins. Developed originally for industrial mold cleaning, it preserves the coin’s original toning and metal integrity, making it a trusted choice for collectors seeking a gentle yet effective rinse. Ideal for prepping coins before grading, this solvent offers a portable, reusable formula that has been a numismatic staple for over two decades.

## Description

Product description Conserv Safe Coin Solvent and BU Plus : Products of CDI - Numismatic Division Conserv Safe Coin Solvent and BU Plus In 1990, at a prominent U.S. dental products manufacturing company known as CDI, a unique new liquid was developed with the specific purpose of removing impurities from plastic and metal surfaces. As part of a technical surface preparation process, the aim of the product was to cleanse the surfaces of rigid molds prior to the pouring of refractory high-heat silicates. Upon the release of this product, the Director of CDI discovered that this liquid had the ability to remove surface dirt, impurities, gums, grease, varnish, inks, etc. on coins but it also quickly removed surface PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride “green-residue”) from coins as well! Not only did the liquid rinse away the PVC, but it did not disturb the metal in any way! Surface “toning” was left completely intact while contaminants were rinsed off with ease. (Conserv Safe Coin Solvent will NOT remove tarnish or stains to the metal itself, try BU Plus for that instead) After repeated tests on different metals and on many surface problem coins, especially those with slime, darkened ash, dirt, and wet or dry PVC, the liquid removed residues consistently while leaving the original coin surfaces undisturbed... a collector’s dream remedy! Since the discovery of the cleansing effect this liquid has on coins, the Director proceeded to use this liquid treatment before sending off coins for "slabbing" to the grading services … always undetectable … continuously … for over two decades! Now, after many years of successful use and aiding fellow collectors/dealers with this great product, CDI has agreed to allow its sale to the coin collecting industry and beyond. "Because sometimes we need it." Products and Sizes Conserv 2 Ounce Bottle Small and portable. Contains enough liquid to treat approximately 3 - 5 coins. Liquid may be re-used however we usually recommend that fresh / clean liquid is applied to each coin. Conserv 4 Ounce Bottle Small and portable. Contains enough liquid to treat approximately 5 - 10 coins. Conserv 8 Ounce Bottle Best value compared to the volume of product sold. Contains enough liquid to treat approximately 10 - 20 coins. BU Plus 4 Ounce Bottle Used for when rinsing a coin is not enough. Assists with the removal of tarnish, spots, etc. and can give your proof coins a bright and shiny new appearance!

Review: Solid product - This solution and the instructions that came with it are very clear and works top notch if you fallow instruction carefully. Gold silver nickel all worked perfect. Copper works well if you don’t over soak the copper.
Review: Good for a narrow purpose - The narrow purpose, in my opinion, would be to use on coins you never intend to send in for grading. I was curious enough to try this so I got some junk silver. It does take some of the grime off, it does retain the patina, and in some cases it does brighten the coin somewhat. In a video I watched I saw that the man demonstrating its use said he would apply it to coins before sending in for grading. After having used it, I would personally NOT do that. It does leave some residue and most importantly, using it according to the instructions, it does seem to reduce the luster.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this product be used in a ultrasonic cleaner, if so how do you mix with water ?**
A: No it’s used straight! Directions on bottle

**Q: What shipping service do you use, and will you ship to a p.o. box ? thx**
A: USPS is our primary shipping method but, if you specify another company, we will let you know if we accept your alternate shipping method. Typically, our standard USPS 2-5 day shipping is what you can expect and delivery to a PO Box should not be a problem.

**Q: piggy bank half full of coins, quarters, nickels, dimes, pennys, sticky, nedd to be cleaned, what to be cleaned, soap and water did not work.**
A: This product, again, does not remove toning, spots, verdigris, or other chemical changes to the metal itself. Conserv is not junk as James mentioned, it just requires use by actual numismatists who understand the difference between cleaning and conservation.

**Q: After treating do i use tap water to rinse ? Or distilled ?**
A: Hello and thank you for your question. Typically you would not need to use water to rinse the coin if you follow the directions and / or watch our video on how we use Conserv. If you bathe the coin in some Conserv, lift it out, use a cotton swab dipped in Conserv to brush away the contamination, pat dry with a paper towel, and let the coin air dry then you should get good results.
