very good for doing chores
I previously had a Meb Keflezigi edition I purchased at wal mart. that one was different but had features that I wish they had kept. upon buying this one I was hoping it had better ear grip than the previous version. to my delight it has a better head secure with a rubber band grip that is on the rear not shown in the pictures. the rubber ear buds are thinner and stick in your ear better. as for the build quality it is excellent and it is really sturdy especially the buttons. the buttons are a lot harder to push in and will require to be broken in. one useless feature is the hold switch. the buttons are really hard to push in so it isn't really needed unless u put it in a bag and really lean on it hard or something. I dropped it one day and the hold switch broke and became loose. now it just slides back and forth just being useless. this one requires an on and off switch which is ok in my opinion. unlike the previous model this one has a proprietary charger. this is a change I don't like. the previous had a simple usb cable that really easy to use. its just to cumbersome and bulky. as for exercising I always use for jogging, work, and house hold chores. it is really convenient with no wires and scrolling through a touch screen. the battery life is good and as a plus it will recharge on its own I believe for several minutes for an extra 90 minutes of playback. while jogging it will stay very secure due to the different rubber earbuds and the rubber strapi have showered with this thing but not swim so it is definitely water proof. I highly recommend this over the previous Meb Keflezigi edition which I still see on store shelves.

Great Deal. Quality product!
These work very well. Nice to have for workouts. I haven't used them for swimming, so I can't attest to the waterproofing, but it's great to workout and not have a cord. Plus they were about 30 dollars cheaper than best buy.

My 2nd Unit, Hopefully this one won't break
This is the second one I purchased. A year ago I bought an NWZW273S, and the volume broke after a couple of weeks--I suspect water got into the unit. This "older" version (non-S) seems exactly the same, but it lacks the extra set of replaceable earbuds with the "cover" over the hole. I just swam for an hour and dived 5 feet and this current model is working just fine. I will update this review in a couple of weeks after I've swam with it more. Sound is great, not muffled as I remembered with the "S" series. Update: 8/27/2016— This unit lasted all summer, then broke mysteriously. Volume wouldn't work. Wouldn't charge. Sheesh Sony.I am changing my review from 3 to 1 star.

Great but with one major flaw
This iteration of the Sony Walkman portable players is great -- much like its predecessors -- but it has one major flaw that its predecessors did not. The only way to charge or move music onto the player is through the proprietary cradle included with the purchase. You cannot use a standard USB micro or mini connector (as you could with the previous iteration). This makes the player much less valuable for me; since I usually use it when traveling, it means that I need to carry yet another proprietary cable in my bag. Sony didn't have this problem on the previous generation, so it's disappointing to see it this time around. Aside from that, however, it works great. Battery life is good, playback volume is good, etc. It does pretty much everything I could ask it to do, and the form factor is (as it has been with the previous generations of this player) unique and fantastic -- much better than an ipod mini or other player for those who are looking for something lightweight while exercising.

Glad I bought it.
I have been waiting to find something like this for a long time. Being a runner has been a problem for most of my portable players. I have pulled the plugs out of my ears, swiped the player off my shirt, or recently had a girl get her hair tangled in the phone cord. This walkman sports MP3 player cures all of these ills. It holds just as many songs with no cord and it's waterproof, I checked it in my girlfriends pool. Music quality was great and the controls are easy to figure out. Fitting them to my ears was no real chore and so far I have enjoyed my cordless runs with it. Drop and drag music from your computer and you are set to go. The only thing I haven't tried was to see if I can create a playlist like in my iPod Nano, not really a problem but sometimes a change of mood during a run would be helpful.

Excellent Product!
A great product from Sony for sports enthusiasts. Excellent sound quality and ease of use especially during rigorous workouts. I like the adjustment band at the back. It keeps the thing firmly in place even while running.

So far so good! Sound quality is fine but I'm not picky
I'm not a swimmer, I'm an epically sweaty jogger who has broken a pair of Sony IPX 4 "waterproof" headphones by wearing them and sweating for about 3 months. After researching what waterproof means and what the various IPX ratings denote I figured these wouldn't have that problem as they are actually designed to be fully immersed in water. So far so good! Sound quality is fine but I'm not picky. If these things could also work as Bluetooth headphones they would be the best set of headphones I have ever owned, as it stands they do exactly what I want them to, play music w/o breaking no matter how sweaty I get. Also the quick charge feature is awesome!

This product is great. Most bad reviews here are from people that did not follow the instructions that come with the device. And you can tell that Sony has made an effort to make sure that the instructions come through. It comes written, with pictures and they even give you a link to a youtube video that thoroughly explains how to use the device properly. So any bad reviews come from dumb people or melomaniacs that want sound quality that obvioisly you cannot obtain from such a compact headset. I use it for the gym which is great and for swimming, sound comes through excellent. Its not a Bose of course, but you can sweat it, put in water, run, jump and drop it and the sound is atill great. Well worth it for anyone looking for music during their work out.
