Lace up shoes usually require a size adjustment for individual quirks. In a Ryka slide on I take a 6 1/2 with loads of toe room. The sole is more foot shaped. I required a 7 in the Devotion 2. The toe box is roomy, but due to very high arches, I feel some restriction in the lace area after a few hours. A 7 1/2 was too big with the arch support not hitting the arch properly. But these are the MOST comfortable sneakers I’ve ever owned! I had a knee replacement and they are helping with balance issues, high arches (my arches can actually touch these arch supports), misaligned back/hip issues (yep, these help with those issues). In other words, I take different sizes in different shoes. I usually take a 7 in lace ups, 6-6 1/2 in slide ons. The 7s are quite comfortable, but I’m getting ready to try a wide. I have my regular width Rykas to use regardless. Remember, even within a brand, not all models are created equal. But Ryka makes a damn good shoe. Just wish they made a slide on with the same bounce and energy the Devotion 2 gives. **Q: I do alot of indoor fitness walking (Leslie Sansone). I need to walking support and and I need the lateral support. Don't care how they look.** A: I got a new treadmill and suddenly developed pain for the first time ever, in one of my knees out of the blue. I thought perhaps my old shoes were breaking down and needed replacement and perhaps the new treadmill was less shock absorbent than my other one. Felt that same knee pain begin shortly into my outdoor (black asphalt) greenway walk longside a river which rolls up and down with the natural terrain. So I gave the knee a rest from my 5-7 days a week 2mi. powerwalks and ordered these shoes. For whatever the reasons, after resting the knee and wearing these shoes - no more knee pain. I was even able to pick up the pace and incrementally raise my treadmill walking speed to a brisker pace - 3.4 to 3.7. I feel these shoes provided the support, increased shock asorbency and protection I needed to lessen overall stress on my knees. I'm about to turn 65, no Rx meds, no knee, hip problems or joint pain & still going strong! **Q: Are they true to size or do they run small?** A: I just tried on a pair of these in a store, to see what size I needed since I haven't tried this brand yet. I normally buy 10 in athletic shoes. But the 10 in this was too snug and my toe hit the end of the shoe...11 was too big and my foot was swimming in them. So I came to Amazon to order the 10.5 since I can't find the 1\2 size in a local store. **Q: Is this walking shoe have good support for flat feet?** A: It has very decent support, I also have flat feet and almost exclusively wear walking shoes.
