Fit perfect easy install

I installed this water pump on a 2006 Chevy Malibu SS with a 3.9 l. One of the options for rating was ease of installation. It was not an easy job to do. But that is not because of the part. That is because of the location of the water pump. If the water pump is right out in the open it would be a super simple install. I haven't been driving it long enough to determine the durability, but the engine does run a little bit cooler now. In the box is the water pump and a new gasket. If you're going through replace your water pump you might as well replace your thermostat while you're at it. I replaced the water pump, the thermostat, and the cooling temperature sensor. Replacing all those at the same time is not a bad idea. Especially with the mileage I have on the car which is 172,000 miles.

Do yourself a favor and separately order the steel and rubber gasket to go along with this water pump. The gasket that comes with this kit is a junky felt and doesn't offer the required spacing for the water pump fins to not hit the block. Order the 7 bucks steel and rubber gasket and everything fits perfectly, and you still save 50 or so bucks compared to OEM.

The gasket was not like the original with the original being thicker and metal. When bolted in the water pump rubbed. Had to buy an OEM gasket which cost more than the pump. Makes me wonder how good the rest of the pump is. Do yourself a favour and buy better quality.
