Great and resonably priced product for quick and relatively accurate readings
I use the anemometer to verify wind speed when erecting and commissioning industrial and domestic wind turbines up to 100kW

Anemometer good, thermometer temperamental, possible electromagnetic sensitivity.
I have used the HP-866B for almost 3 years now. The anemometer works well - I had someone drive me down the road at 30 mph and that's what the gauge read. The thermometer however has to be used in a certain way to give reasonably accurate readings. Since the temperature sensor reads the temperature inside of one the holes in the case through which air passes, you need to normalize the temperature of the unit to the ambient air before you can get an accurate reading. If you have kept the unit in your pocket or in a backpack, the temperature of the case is probably going to be different than the air outside of the unit, and it won't read the true temperature of the air. It's even worse if the unit has been sitting in the sun. Normalizing the unit's temperature to the outside air can take up to 30 minutes. Another issue is that this unit may be susceptible to damage by electromagnetic currents. Today (May 1, 2023) I was using this unit outside with no problems at first. Once the sun came out, I found a place to set it out of the sunlight, which happened to be on top of an electric connection box that had a power company's electric meter attached to it, all mounted on a telephone pole. When I tried to turn on the HP-866B about 45 minutes later, nothing happened - no display. I swapped the batteries with a backup pair, and still no power. I checked the batteries with a multimeter when I got home and both sets of batteries were fine (1.50V +). I also opened up the case and all of the internal power wires were still connected. My assumption was that the electrical connection box was putting out a strong electromagnetic field that damaged the microprocessor or another chip inside the HP-866B. In the future, I will be more cautious about where I place whatever anemometer I purchase as its replacement..
