Best filter I've used for humidifier
I used this filter for my hard well water into a whole-house humidifier. I have used two other brands, and they both left a slurry-type mix in the humidifier reservoir, meaning they weren't filtering enough scale. This filter leaves very little, the res. doesn't need to be cleaned nearly as much. You can shake this filter and hear pellets moving, on the others I used you couldn't, so it must be a different filtering media. It works better, I'll be ordering these every year now, and would recommend as best for hard well water.

Quality Humidifier Water Filter
Needed to remove hard water deposits to prevent clogging the steam canister quickly. The expense is high due to the brass fittings are sold as a kit with the filter and are not needed once the first filter install is completed. After the first install of the filter, the brass fittings are not needed since using steel braided water lines with couplings that come with the braided water lines.

Works Well
Seems to work well for over a month now, even with our mineral saturated water.

This is the one you want.
I ran this in my furnace humidifier last winter durning the out long 5 month heating season, I couldn't believe how much scale this reduced. One filter lasted me all season.

Worth it to save the Humidifier
We have a whole house humidifier and we went one year without using a inline filter. Our HVAC guy told us we really wouldn't need it. However, we ended up buying one the next year and I have to say it did make a difference when cleaning the system at the end of the season. And probably with energy costs since the heating element wasn't as dirty. Helping to maintain your humidifier system is worth it since they are so expensive to beginning with. Small price to pay to extend the system life cycle and reduce energy costs.

Waste of Time and Money
Could not get it to stop leaking. Extremely frustrating. I compared the connection to a gator bite connector I had and clearly it leaks due to its poor design. Save your money. I threw mine away and bought an under the sink water filter. The filtrete (3M) system was $23 through Amazon Prime. It filters out chlorine and other contaminants. I figured if I can drink the water that runs through it then I can have a high level of confidence that it is adequately filtering the water supplied to my furnace humidifier. Plus the filter simply screws on/off 1/2 turn. If you take my advice, the filtrete system made a chirping sound (not making this up) for awhile until all the air was worked out of it. Let it run a few heat cycles. The sound went away.

Brass fittings cannot be used on plastic line unless you buy additional parts
I like that this is for a humidifier and not intended for drinking water purification. I don't like that that the brass fittings cannot be used on a plastic supply line unless you purchase a plastic compression sleeve (ring) and a copper insert. This is the reason for 4 stars. I could not find a filter that was specific for a humidifier that came with the push in plastic hose connection which was simple to use.
