I'm a regular espresso drinker - usually consume 4 doubles/day. Mostly grind beans immediately before using. Don't buy ground espresso very often, but over many years of playing with espresso I've tried a lot of them. I still buy ground occasionally for travel and to just have on hand. (Just used a can of this on a trip and have another on hand.) Don't want to go unprepared. Anyway, to this coffee, this is the only ground espresso I will buy. It is a pretty dark roast but not bitter. It is very finely ground. I can easily over pack/tamp this coffee if not careful. It is IMO a pretty full flavored espresso. I like it, and I recommend it.

I have purchased this coffee for years, it is, hands down, my favorite.

WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - I need to start off with this because I did it twice! When popping open the sealed lid (not the cover, but the sealed top with the pull tab, beneath the cover), BE SURE TO DO THIS OVER A LARGE SINK OR BARREL and do it very carefully and slowly, as the can is vacuum sealed so as soon as the seal is broken, all of the pressure bursts out and so do the coffee grinds, and they go all over the place! This is the first time that I ever tried illy brand and I got the illy Intenso Ground Espresso Coffee, Bold Roast. I pretty much explained it in the headline - it is so rich, creamy and smooth and has a great flavor with no acidity (if there is some acidity, it was not detectable or harsh). I made this in my Casabrews Espresso Machine and it came out so good - it was rich, dark, flavorful and had it's own natural creamy foam on top. It was not bitter, sour or acidic at all. It was just velvety, smooth, creamy and delicious. It does state to store it in the fridge, which I do, but I do feel that it looses some freshness in the fridge, but would probably go stale or bad, if not refrigerated. I notice that it also gets a bit lighter in color, after opening and storing. There's nothing like opening it for the first time and using it fresh from the first reveal! I will definitely buy this again, but it would be nice if maybe they could create a more insulated container so that the coffee stays fresher longer.

I was spending gobs of money at Starbucks and finally decided to purchase an espresso machine to make my own drinks. After reading reviews I decided to go with the illy dark roast espresso and am so glad that I did! It tastes great, works in my espresso machine and saves me tons of money. The flavor is even better than Starbucks! I reorder this at least once a month and will continue to order this item.

I came back from Italy and bought this as I noticed it was used in almost every cafe I went to. I use 1 tbs in my Bialetti Moka Express and the results are phenomenal. Just as good as the espresso I had in Italy. It could just be me, but it seems the caffeine content is much higher than other espressos. When I go to starbucks I can do a double shot without any problems but if I do two shots of this my eyelid starts twitching and I have trouble sleeping. One is plenty to get me through the day. I used to be a heavy Starbucks drinker but after experiencing Illy I will never go back. It's very strong coffee, but still very smooth and goes down easy without any milk.

Taste is superb. Clean absolutely no bitterness. It was recommended to me and I’m very happy with purchase!
