Pretty much like other comparable cameras, the setup is fairly easy BUT only if your running your router with nothing but password security such as the typical home user. I have additional security features enabled such as the use of MAC addresses. So, if you try to enable (register) the camera using the cellphone app (CloudEdge) then your most likely going to find that the device will not be found (of course, you MUST enter the MAC addressif using that security feature). So, at this point you need to obtain the MAC address to proceed. MAC addresses are usually found on a label on the box or possibly in the documentation for the device but in this package nothing of the like was found. The next option is to actually access the device by plugging it into your computer/laptop to get the device info. In my case, using the USB cable that is found in the box did NOT allow the device to be recognized by the computer and again no MAC address was to be found. That pretty much slams the door shut BUT there was one final option, temporarily disable the MAC address security. Now go through the registration process and the camera should connect without issue. Now the app has access to the camera. When it does click on the dots on your screen (on the cellphone app) to access the "Settings" then you'll be able to click on "Device Information" and there is found the devices MAC address. Now copy the devices MAC address into your router settings Wi-Fi MAC addresses. Re-enable the MAC address security and your good to go. I guess these vendors presume everyone runs their routers with nothing more than password security and if not (as in my example) they don't even bother to provide/explain how to get access to the devices MAC address. I have seen this time and again and it can be a point of frustration, especially someone that isn't computer savvy. Hope this helps the next customer who runs into this situation. Other than that I have not actually mounted it yet and cannot comment further on it's operation. If I run into any other points of interest I'll be sure to return and enlighten anyone interested. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent weather proof wireless solar charged securing cam *by W***R on Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2019* Living in a rural Wooded area, reliability of electrical service is poor due to frequent storms with wind that bring trees/limbs down. Normal batteries are a hassle to remember to change and an added expense. The solar charger and little power consumption of this unit seemed like the perfect solution. While I have only had the camera a few days, I am duly impressed by quality construction, solid weatherproofing design, high detail HD picture, simple set up, simple install. I am not sure why the Android App has such a low rating. I found it comparable, if not better, that other security and smart device apps. The App has a simple interface, is not cluttered with unnecessary or seldom used features, allows recording to micro SD card, so monthly cloud service is NOT required (but is available), and the app is intuitive to use. The camera's 130Β° field of view is good, although has a fish bowl effect at the outer edges could be improved with higher quality lenses. And while 130Β° field of view is adequate in most situations, most good dash cams these days come with 170Β° views and not the distortion. I would not pay the $400 list price, but the $80 to $100 range is more than fair. The magnetic mount, while usable inside or for temporary use to watch your kids or pets outside, would not be wise as a permanent mounting option. It can be easily stolen and while quite strong as magnetic mounts go, I found outside conditions can move the camera view. Some basic color options like gray, black, camaflauge, etc would make the camera less obvious in particular applications, and thus helpful. Last, let me mention the solar panel. The panel appeals to be of high quality construction and the supplied 4 meter connecting cord to the camera (plus a USB cable for indoor continuous power situations) is of stout construction and heavier Guage wire/insulation than most flimsy USB cables most manufacturers supply. It is now installed outside with the solar panel deployed. Now we'll see how it does in real life conditions. In initial tests I conducted its ability to accurately detect "bodies" from surrounding movement is excellent with no false reports during a six hour span when set to the medium sensitivity setting. Impressive and valuable. My reason for the 4 stars on night vision is that its detection range is very short by today's standards. No doubt due to only 3 infrared light sources. Night vision range is in definite need of improvement and would make this little beauty a gem! One last note: I wish manufactures would get FAR, FAR away from using cast aluminum for any part of the support base construction. Cast aluminum is far to brittle and easily broken. Yes, this camera base ball adjustment and the solar panel both have the cast aluminum. Be very careful tightening and adjusting either one, and more so in cold weather. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Simple to set up where there is no power *by W***Y on Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2019* I have installed lots of IP Camera around my house and bought this to get one that is solar powered so that I can put it where that I don’t have power nearby. The camera has a swivel base that lets you mount it on any angle, and it uses a standard camera screw compatible with what is used on camera tripods. The image quality is very good, especially in daylight, and it has IR illuminators for night viewing. However, the night viewing gets reflections from the IR illuminators so I have had to leave it in the full color mode at night. I really like some of the features, like a simple plug on the back that covers the USB power connector and the TF card slot, so there is no need to get into the camera itself. The camera has rechargeable batteries built in so you don’t have to use the solar panel if you want to recharge it every month or so. It also has a thermal image sensor that is supposed to help with motion triggering and it does seem to work better than some other motion sensors. There are very few user settings with the CloudEdge app, which makes it simple to set up, but I would prefer more adjustment potential. The biggest drawback I have found is since it doesn’t have an external antenna, the wi-fi range seems much lower than other IP cameras and I can’t get it to stay connected, even with a wi-fi extender that I added.
