FloodStop Water Heater Leak Detector Kit with Automatic Water Shut-Of
Very simple to install. I already had all 3/4" threaded fittings in place and installed along with the yearly maintenance hot water heater tank drain. I took advantage of the opportunity and changed die-electric flex pipe at the same time. Unit came with ball in closed position. Powered it up and samples the open and closing procedure much to my satisfaction. I also had to do mortar repair for the chimney piping for heater and furnace, that location is very close and when a very small amount of moist hydraulic cement landed on the sensor in the hot water heater flood pan, ball immediately closed and alarm sounded. If you've ever had a hot water heater fail and your basement flood because the water pressure isn't halted, you know exactly why you need this device.

Don’t buy it
This is junk only work for 1.5 years. Was having hot water low pressure issues because the valve was stuck in the closed position and doesn’t open.

Flood protection device
I bought this for a second home. I have already installed one in our other house at the water input location, just after the main shut off. I wired a sensor to the water heater, dishwasher, refrigerator, clothes washer, and basement utility sink. It activated once so far when the HVAC condensate pump failed, and water ran to the nearby water heater sensor. At the second house I need to get a plumber to shut the water off at the water main before I install this. I try to always shut the water off when i leave for a while, and I usually remember, but not always. With this, if I forget, it will avert disaster.
