## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is a carboy?**
A: Carboy is another word for a large glass or clear plastic jug (like the one pictured). The glass models are manufactured in 3 gallon, 5 gallon, 6 gallon, and 6.5 gallon sizes. The plastic models are manufactured in 3 gallon, 5 gallon, and 6 gallon sizes. They allow you to move the beer or wine off of the primary yeast sediment to allow it clarify before bottling. Carboys also allow you to cycle through batches more quickly, as you can move the batch from the primary fermenter into the secondary carboy and the start another batch in the primary.
