Chaeto is used by many aquarists as a nutrient sink: it grows fast and helps keep nitrate and phosphate levels in check. We will send you a tracking number when it ships. Chaeto tends shrink in size as a stress reaction to being shipped. So, when it arrives it will (depending on transit time, temperature, etc.) sometimes be less than a cup in volume. We recommend rinsing it in seawater before introducing it you’re your tank or refugium. After it has had 24 hours to acclimate, gently tease it apart so that it returns to a loosely packed density like in the picture. (This will be approximately one cup in volume). Chaeto grows much quicker when it is not densely packed as it gets better water circulation and light. CRITICALLY IMPORTANT: Please make sure someone is home to receive it. A hot or cold mailbox can severely damage or kill chaeto. It does not need to be placed in your aquarium immediately, but it should be brought in from the elements and placed in a room temperature environment.
