Kiddo couldn't put it down!
My six year old was so excited about this book that he started reading it to himself as soon as we opened the package and didn't stop until he got to the end. Usually we read these together, but I had to wait my turn - and I did have to take a turn, because he wants to discuss the plot with me. I felt that the subject matter of this volume was a little more intense than previous entries. In each of the first few books there's a distinct real-world plot and in-game plot that are related to each other but clearly separate. This time the line is less distinct, making it feel more like the characters could be in actual danger, and the book ends with an unsettling encounter with the Evoker King. It makes for an exciting story, but readers who are a little more sensitive to scariness might want to wait on this one. I continue to be very happy with the quality of these books. The illustrations are great, the actual physical book is sturdy and appealing, and the writing is smooth and evocative and just complex enough for an early chapter book reader. I love the characters, and discussing these books with my son is a genuine pleasure. I'm a big reader, and a writer myself, and it's been really great to find stories that are relevant to my son's interest in Minecraft that are also GOOD.

Highly motivating Minecraft chapter book for kids
My seven-year-old is obsessed with this chapter book series. The stories are nonstop action, which makes him excited to read the books. If your child is not already Minecraft obsessed like mine is, all of the game related terms are explained by the characters. There are also great relationships between the characters and life lessons.

Kid loved it
From nine year old: "I think it's a great book. I liked that it had mystery and that it had an adventure. The coolest part was how they linked Nether portals throughout the world." From me (parent): I have no idea what that means, but I think he loved it. We pre-ordered this one because he enjoyed the others so much. Definitely recommend for reluctant readers.

Wonderful book....but was printed upside-down!
The book itself (the whole series) keeps my child's interest in reading, which is not an easy feat! He loves Minecraft, and he truly enjoys these books. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw him reading the book upside down. I thought he was joking around, but it turns out the book was bound/printed upside down. Never before have I seen this happen, but our whole family had a good laugh about it. This book, and all the others in the Woodsword Chronicles series are truly outstanding for boys in 1st -3rd/4th grades. I can only hope that my son will find another series that interests him once he finishes this one.

Our 9 year old loves this series of books and is excited when a new one arrives. The books are not too lengthy so they are read very quickly. If your kid loves minecraft, then they will like these books.

Love reading these books with my son. I just think they’re a bit pricy for a kids book. Especially if you want the whole series.

My 10 year old son has really enjoyed these books. This is latest in the series. Details accurate to the Minecraft adventures on the computer and brings the game to life.
