Would buy again if I needed to
Putting lugs on motor wires, I used to have to use the hammer and punch method. I bought this set with hopes of never having to use it, but I have, and it works great. I would buy again without any hesitation.

Great value for the price.
What you should know: 1) I performed about 30 crimps on 4/0 cable. 2) I performed about 10 crimps on #6 cable 2) The dies are far from perfect and the labeled size may be wrong. I had to use the 3/0 dies for the 4/0 lugs. No big deal, just make sure you are getting a really well formed crimp. 3) Great selection of dies, this is why i chose this brand over the other value crimpers. 4) Always aggressively test your crimps after completion, until you know your tool or know what a good crimp looks like. 5) Included was a spare set of o-rings for rebuild. 6) The handle may be a little on the weak side, but it didn't fail or bend. 7) The storage case is great. 8) I have large manual quick cable crimpers that goto 4/0, after using I prefer the hydraulic ones. Overall, a great value for the price. I would purchase again.

Great crimper for the money, only wish the dies were slightly more precise and marked better
Overall very good product. I like the way the piston retracts by itself once you turn the valve to the on (loosen) position. Unlike the "bolt cutter" style manual crimpers, this one doesn't need as much space to operate, which is why I went with hydraulic. This could be a factor for people working on boats, RV's, etc. in close quarters. If you're doing 200 crimps a day, you probably need something better. For the serious DIY individual, this is more than satisfactory. I am using it to crimp 2/0 (very large) 12v battery cable terminals and it has plenty of compression power to do the job. As others have stated, the case is good quality but oddly does not have enough slots for all the dies it comes with, so there are about a half a dozen just rattling around loose in the case. I suppose that's better than too few dies. Dies are stamped with sizes but some of the stampings are not deep enough making them a bit difficult to read.

Makes crimping 4/0 Wire EASY!
This thing is a BEAST and makes crimping heavy electrical wire super easy. It comes in a nice carrying case that holds the tool and all the dies. I have a few hudred crimps with it on my lithium battery and solar install and it definitly made the work go faster. The dies do run a little large so make sure to use a smaller size than the actual wire you are crimping.

Much better than striker crimper!
Bought this to do several solar projects and wanted solid crimps. As some have said the dies are not the exact size. I’m crimping 1/0 battery cables but I use the 2 gauge dies. Other than that, great price for this!

Nice crimping tool. Dies are a little oversized in my experience.
OK, this works pretty well but the crimping dies don't really crimp the associated gauge correctly. Not sure if you need to use a thicker lug or what the problem is, but I ended up using the next size smaller die to get a good tight crimp on copper wire with copper lugs. Other than this issue this is a pretty good crimping tool. Comes with spare repair parts so that's a little unnerving and makes me wonder what will happen in the future.

Heavy duty crimper
Purchased this crimper for doing 4/0 size electrical cables. I am guessing the dies are made for crimping hard copper wires such as in buildings, when I use for soft flexible cables such as welding cable I have to use the next size smaller die and then crimp down approx 75% of the way. I am very pleased with this tool and would recommend this to anyone needing to make up good quality connections.
