I bought this as a birthday gift for my niece after my daughter recieved the unicorn for her first birthday. It is a most loved item in our home! The size is perfect for my now 18 month old. It easily holds a few diapers, pack of wipes, some snacks and the cupholder on the side works well with our munchkin 360 cup. Also great when you don't want to carry a purse. The harness seems comfortable. My toddler refuses to remove it so I feel safe in that assumption. The clip is too tough for a toddler to undo so that's good. I have only used it as a leash once or twice, and I clipped it to the top of the bag as the bottom seems like it would surely knock a kid off her feet. I did enjoy the leash, it was fun and useful. Overall, we love these adorable backpacks. Just wish they came in all the skip hop animals.

My 2.5 year old has reached the independent stage where she insists on walking instead of riding next to her younger brother in the double stroller. The problem is that she's a runner. The scary kind of runner who is out the door and in the parking lot before you can provide a cashier with a signature kind of runner. Fast and ninja quiet so you don't even know she's gone until you've looked up. I needed to do something because obviously the parking lot thing isn't safe, and having another kid, running off to chase her and leaving him behind wasn't going to cut it either. This backpack was our solution and it works great! It gives her the freedom she's craving, but keeps her close enough to stay safe and out of trouble. An added bonus is that it makes her feel like a special big kid. She wore it non-stop (without the leash) for 3 days straight when we first bought it. Even slept with it. Said she was going to school and asked me to put a pencil in the back for her. It's large enough for a travel wipes case and a couple diapers with room for snack cups, plus a small cup in the outer pocket. For short outings this is perfect because we don't have to lug around a full diaper bag, and my daughter gets the added pride from "helping" carry the items we need. The animal designs are cute, the backpack is stitched well, the buckles close tightly enough that my daughter can't undo them herself to take it off constantly (not that she wants to take it off anyway...), the buckle for the leash is sturdy and is designed well enough that there's not a chance of it coming undone by accident. (Other reviews point out they're unhappy with the placement of the leash attachment, but we've had no problems with it being below the backpack.) We do get looks on occasion for being one of "those" parents that puts their kid on a leash, but I'd rather get looks than a hospital bill for my child running away from me and being hit in a parking lot.

I bought this for my very active toddler when we were going on a trip. I love the leash so I can keep her close by while letting her have some freedom when we are at the busy airport. She loves keeping her snacks and toys inside. Its the perfect size for a 2 year old and it's super cute.

We love this little harness backpack for our two-year old. We have only used the harness once or twice, but we use the backpack on a daily basis. It's small enough for my toddler to carry himself with some wipes, diapers, sippy, and snacks- we use it as the diaper bag and he loves to carry his own stuff for us! The material is sturdy and it's very durable. The harness is clipped to the bottom, and we just leave it attached and tuck it in the side mesh pocket. The backpack is really quite small, so if you're looking for a lot of storage, choose the regular backpack the next size up (those don't have harnesses, though). All the designs are as cute in person as they are in the photos. The selection is great...I'm always looking for more reasons to own more Skip Hop Zoo products!!

Beautiful, good finishing and practical. The only detail I would change: the strap to hold the kid is fastened in the bottom of the backpack, which is strange. Should be fastened on the top of it.
