My new favorite
It's as good as another much more expensive 12-hole alto C ocarina I have. The tones are clear and strong for the full range. They are all slightly flat, but my other ocarinas are slightly sharp. The cure is to blow harder to raise a pitch, or softer to lower a pitch. What I lke best about the dragon tooth is the ergonomics. I can hold it more like an inline ocarina (though not entirely), which is less tiring for my left hand. It comes with a nice padded pouch with a loop on the back for passing a belt through. It also comes with a beaded neck strap, though I don't use neck straps. The instruction booklet has fingering for ocarinas in three different keys" C, G and G. You only need the C for this one. It also includes songs, which I haven't tried. This is my new favorite, and is a real bargain.

Function fun instrument
I love this ocarina. It is good quality and the case is nice. The tone is nice an willowy. The highest notes can be a bit airy but I think as I learn more that will get better. With my small hands I can reach the holes. It’s not easy but it can be done. I love this thing!

you get what you pay for
With plenty of practice, this ocarina is playable and fun. It looks good, and comes in a nice zipper case with a polishing cloth, neck cord, and instruction booklet. There are other ocarinas out there that are easier to play and sound better — but they cost more. This ocarina has a bit of a learning curve to it. It helps if you have a piano or pitch pipe nearby so you can play the note on it, then try to match that sound on the ocarina. Otherwise, the low notes are all over the place until you learn breath control. Also, the left hand finger holes are spaced in a way that makes it awkward for me to play the A note. After playing for a while, my left hand starts to cramp.Recommend you rinse it out occasionally and let it dry overnight. It improves the sound.

Great Sound, wonderful authentic look, but watch for chips or defects
When it first arrived I thought the package was rather heavy, this was exciting to me because I knew it would probably be very good quality. I was correct in this assumption, however after a quick inspection I noticed it had a small chip in the very top, exposing the white ceramic underneath. I'm not an expert but once there's a chip in ceramic or any other Stone, the rest of the stone is also compromised and weakened but I did not return it. I just took a black Sharpie marker and colored over it, you can't even tell where the chip was now. The Ocarina sounds great, however your finger placement must be both exact and firmly in place. I noticed after about a half an hour or hour of practice my hands hurt badly, probably until I get it down better and build the muscle memory. However, with about just an hour of practice I was able to play Zelda's Lullaby perfectly from beginning to end and my brother and friends were impressed. I find it helps to stand while playing this instrument, even walking around dancing like an elf in the woods type thing, I know it sounds crazy but just standing and moving around helps me play it better. Get into it is what I'm saying.

Great Instrument. Worth it.
The packaging was nice. Came free of damage. Easy to use and a decent tone. Beautiful product. Made out of thick material. Very happy with this purchase.

Not for beginners
I bought this for my son so we could learn to play together. This is not easy to play compared to my other that I purchases a few weeks earlier (joy of wood thrush ceramic). The sound is no where near as good. You have to control your breath just right to make it in tune. The higher the note the harder you blow the louder it gets (you have to blow hard to make the note in tune... It gets loud). likewise the lower almost no breath (to make it in tune) but its super quiet. Compare this to mine that I purchased it is not worth it.Pros: The case this came with is very good. Its a padded zipper caseThe booklet it comes with has 23 songsComes with a fabric clothVery nice necklaceThe ocarina looks very pretty and the design of the dragon tooth is very neat.Cons: The sound is not that greatHarder to control the correct tune for each note (Higher louder- quieter softer) aka way too loud , way toquiet.Finger holes are not comfortably located

Good intonation/tuning and high notes, a bit weak sound.
I bought this ocarina with several others to try and keep the one I liked best. This one had the best intonation/tuning and high note response, but the sound was not as rich and full as some of the others. Played in isolation though it's a very nice instrument and I would have had no second thoughts about keeping it.
