Prehistoric Mammals

An engaging, comprehensive guide to the most common prehistoric mammals. Beautifully illustrated, my daughter wants to read this book every night. Lots of cool fun facts, well organized, great first prehistoric mammals book for little ones.

My 5 year old is obsessed with all things animal-related, with particular interest in prehistoric animals (especially cats, but mammoths and dinosaurs are good too). Recently we got several National Geographic books for kids, and have loved them all. They do a great job of presenting lots of information in an appealing format. The organization of this one seemed a bit odd at first, since instead of going animal by animal, it covers different traits on each page. That means information about any given animal is scattered across the book. However, it’s fun and fascinating, and we absolutely love it.

My 5 year old wanted a book on prehistoric animals for his birthday. I was relieved to find this book written on his level. Illustrations are great.

Lots of fun info for a kid wanting to know about these animals

My child is nine and HATES reading! That being said he will read this book and does very well. The facts are interesting and hold his attention. There are a nice selection of mammals and the book helps with the pronunciation of each one. I highly recommend for a child who is interesting in prehistoric animals.

This is good for children learning to decipher scientific text however some info for the pictures is on following pages as the text is so large. It's rated for 3rd graders, but the text is sized for 1st graders. So your third grader may become bored turning pages.

My son enjoyed reading about prehistoric animals. Thos series is always kid friendly and informative.

The first page is a picture of dinosaurs, as who doesn't want to see dinosaurs! Then the book goes through the popular & lesser known prehistoric mammals. Large full colour pictures with facts all around. Very child friendly style. This has been a very popular book & even survived being shared in a preschool classroom. Suitable for children of all ages, and adults too! A good educational tool for teachers.
