This deserves the review of "its a school book and my daughter needed it for class".It was the correct book, she's learning a lot. Go team?

Great book for high school beginners up to seasoned Engineers and Architects as it covers from the most basic residential design and drafting techniques all the way to more advanced residential design and drafting techniques. No matter what level you are at, you simply need to start at the place in the book that most fits your needs. A must have in residential design. The associated workbook is an excellent review tool to the textbook.

This architectural design drafting textbook is an extraordinary resource of architectural drafting information and the finest architectural drafting textbook available today for teachers and students. The new features are wonderful for classroom and lab use to reinforce STEM, Green Architecture/Sustainability, Workplace/Employability Skills, and Cross-Curricular integration with CTE Architectural Drafting courses. The example drawings are tremendous...the photos and illustrations are terrific! As an Architectural Design Drafting teacher, I will be using this textbook in classes! Disappointed. This is architecture 101 - but I don't think it even gives a very good overview of house design. For starters, they might consider an in depth analysis of the layout of certain "classic" American home designs and how they work successfully in terms of livability. This book tries to provide a broad overview of the design process but never provides sufficient detail to actually execute - which is what I'm after.Specifically, I was expecting something slightly more in depth about the technical details of the drafting work flow. I don't care about drawing with a pen - this is 2016, completely useless!!! I was looking for a strictly technical book that would indicate industry standards for the preparation of construction drawings. I have extensive experience in home remodeling, cabinet making and furniture design and I know how to look up the codes and best practices in construction. I was looking for help in design of an addition to make sure that the plans I was drawing up would meet certain professional standards and that all the relevant drawings were presented.This textbook might be OK if you're a teenager who's never seen the guts of a house (i.e. completely clueless) and are pursuing a career in architecture. The career tips are just weird to read for anybody else. I also find the STEM connections just plain laughable, coming from a physics PhD background myself. Seriously, is this what we are teaching our budding architects? It's a marketing gimmick from the publisher designed to draw professors of architecture with "faddish" key-words. The construction details are at such a superficial level that they are basically useless.I think the average architecture student would be better served by reading 20 years of Fine Homebuilding back-issues so that they know that designing most houses starts with sound structural principles and construction techniques. ...Then they can go and build their silly cantilevered constructions for clients with too much money!

The book was in nice condition and was worth paying 70 something dollars for!
