This adaptor works and is made very well. If you need an adaptor, I'd buy this one. The quality seems high being made with ceramics and other fundamental materials. One person said that it didn't work for them because the bottom of the adaptor projected farther than the old bulbs. It does but it wasn't a problem for me. Of course, no more 3 way lighting but my old lamp didn't honor that anyway. It had 3 setting but only 2 worked. It doesn't give off as much heat as the bigger Mogul bulb which is Good but I do miss the brighter than bright light that the old bulbs provided. I will look for a bulb that can give me more light. Very important - someone said to be careful not to toss the adaptor away when changing the bulb. This is SO true! The adaptor came out along with the light bulb when I switched back to my mogul bulb so watch out for that. If the bulb seems too heavy, the adaptor is attached! allows you to use regular light bulbs. porcelain base is best for regular incandescent bulbs.
I have an antique lamp that uses a bulb base that isn't the standard size we use today. After doing some research on line I discovered that there are adapters that let you use regular bulbs in the larger base. I found this one and am happy to report that it did the trick... I now have a functioning lamp without the cost of buying specialty bulbs. the reason I bought this one over some others that were cheaper was that this one is made of ceramic porcelain. Others use plastic. Those with plastic can melt if you use a wattage above about 60watts. This one can handle higher wattages safely.

Perfect solution for old lamp
I inherited a standing lamp that uses really big light bulbs. They are called “mogul base”. For years I found the bulbs at Home Depot but I haven’t seen them in a while and Bulbs and Batteries didn’t carry them either. This bulb adapter is perfect. Screw it in and you can use regular sized light bulbs. And save a fair amount of money. I don’t know if a 3-way bulb will work, but I don’t care. I’m happy to be able to use my grandmother’s lamp.
