These are made of hard plastic whilst the A4 resting piece is metal. **Q: Does this really hold a book in place? Only one review mentions this but I wonder if the clips are strong enough to do this? Thanks for any answers** A: I have used one of my heaviest books a fairly large Collins Spanish/English Dictionary and it does hold a heavy book in place. It holds small paperbacks, too. However, the tabs that hold the article in place are made of plastic, so l would suggest using it gently, when placing and removing a heavy book on the stand. For me it has been very useful when l am in the middle of writing/adjusting written pieces.
