Age Defy Permanent Hair Dye, 5R Medium Auburn Hair Color, Pack of 1

This provides a nice color for my hair. While I do not think it lasts longer than other box colors, the quality is consistent. The shade is consistent as well. I have not had any hair damage with this product, and have used it multiple times. It does fade quickly despite being "permanent" color.

I was a bit sceptical about this product, but it exceeded my expectations. The kit contains a pre-treatment you put on your dry hair from root to tip before coloring. The treatment looked like a clear colloid a bit thicker than shampoo but with no lathering capability. It was a bit difficult to get worked through my thick waist-length hair, but I did manage. The color creme seems more professional-grade, as its' tube must be punctured (unlike current Clairol Nice N'Easy products). The color/dye has an interesting scent, sort of like ginger-carrots-ammonia, which I found pleasant and my cats were very curious about. All of the color creme came out of the applicator bottle way more than the regular Nice N'Easy product. I have one patch of stubborn grays near my part that I've been covering since I turned 30 (I'll be 48 nnext month). I usually have to leave the regular Nice N'Easy product on for an extra 20 minutes to get good gray coverage. This product worked as advertised by coloring my roots for 20 minutes, then pulling through the color to all of my hair for another 5 minutes. I noticed after the 20 minute root application, my hair seemed kind of thickened/stiffened by the pre-treatment and dye, it looked kind of punk/styled. I think this somehow made the color penetrate my hair better. The final step conditioner was also stated to be a Pantene AgeDefy product, and it worked very well. The tube seemed a bit more generous than Clairol's Nice N'Easy product. My hair felt so well-conditioned after using the whole 3 step system that I tried not putting in any hair products into my frizzy hair after coloring. The shine and color vibrancy were excellent, better than I had hoped. I made a video of the application and differences, it's still in edit stage, but I will post soon.

Been buying Clariol Defy for years. I started going gray around 35, and now 20 years later, and still feel too young to go all natural, this has been great. First, very easy to use. Instructions are easy to follow. Every aspect is well packaged. The only issue is maybe better gloves, but I just swap out with my own. Once have gloves on, do a test on scalp. This is a must, because some people may have irritation. The pre conditioner, which has a nice scent. The mixing of color and chemical is easy. The bottle is good dispenser to spread on hair. For as much gray as I have, suggest leaving on for 45 minutes. I do not get a lot of "highlights" but color is not flat, nice shine. Conditioner is perfect for my hair. Works well at softening. The color lasts me about 3 to 4 weeks , but a lot depends on your rate of growth, and how often you wash your hair. I also have very curly hair so not sure how much would show on someone with straight hair. I have used this product for years and have been very happy. Will continue to buy.

I have been using this for several years now. I have used many boxed home dye brands over the years, and this is by far my favorite. The number one best thing about it is how healthy it leaves my hair. My hair feels so soft and silky immediately after rinsing, even before conditioning. It continues to feel silky and healthy day after day, week after week. It covers the gray very well, and the color is natural looking. Since I am a regular user, I am careful to follow directions for applying to the roots first, and only applying to the rest for about the last five minutes. I have just below the shoulder hair, and I like to be careful to not let the length get too dark from frequent dying. I use this about every 8-12 weeks, and in between I use Nice and Easy Root Touch Up. I get a lot of compliments on my hair. The color is a nice, rich brown. It's not ashy or red, it's just a nice flattering rich brown. It has become impossible to find this in any store. I suppose that means it's on its way out, which would be terrible. I will buy this for as long as they make it and I can buy it.

This is the hair dye I usually use, It looks very natural on me. It goes on very easy and rinses out easy. I’ve used other types of semi-permanent hair dye but this one works the best for me.

I noticed that the temple area for gray coverage was not there.. I was actually wow'ed that this product did not cover the white/gray hairs that were saturated, timed and afterwards annoyingly not shampooed so as to not remove the hair dye as I was told that this is optimal that we wait after doing application of coloring as much or as long as we can to not undo the process.. and i gotta tell you .. this was not a solution to gray coverage unlike any other time I've dyed my hair to do specifically that.. maybe it's me? but seriously I've never had any results that were not as expected as I did this time around.. but i know that my review will render nothing. just was asked to review.. and i'm being absolutely truthful. fast delivery.. easy to use .. etc but the results were not what I was anticipating.. gray hairs .. white hairs were visible in a huge way that never before was a problem using hair coloring.

I love this due to low ammonia content. Amazon says they can't get it any more but they gave me a nice run out time after the other stores quit carrying it.
