Fantastic release
By far the best release I've used, & well worth the money! The trigger pull is crisp with little creep, and it's adjustable, although the pull was about right for me straight out of the box (light enough for accuracy but not so light that it felt unsafe). I think the Tru-Fire strap/buckle design is the most well thought-out on the market. Unlike velcro it's very quiet, and it's much quicker and easier to put on than most other designs, thanks to the wide end tab that prevents the strap from ever coming completely out of the buckle, and to the sliding clip (rather than a loop) that secures the loose end of the strap. There's never any fiddling around trying to thread the end of the strap through the buckle or securing loop. Also, the foldback design of this particular release (not found on all Tru-Fire releases) is handy in lots of situations. The best feature of this release is the hook design of the string catch. It's much quicker to engage than any caliper release, and can be done entirely by feel while your eyes remain on the target. WAY faster to engage (especially in a dark game blind in twilight, or while walking and suddenly coming upon a buck or bull), plus it's more secure than a caliper (there's no chance of accidentally not getting it fully closed over the string loop, as with some caliper designs) and faster to disengage as well - which is especially nice when hunting on foot in rough country. You'll see in the pictures that the trigger is angled back a bit rather than sticking out 90 degrees from the body. Ergonomically, this just makes sense. With bow drawn, your index finger isn't parallel to the body of the release, is it? Of course not, since it crosses over the release at an angle - so why are 95% of the releases out there designed as if your finger should pull straight back along the body of the release? It may not matter much, but this release gets it right! That may be one reason I shoot a little better with this release than with others. Some people will tell you that a caliper release is more accurate than a hook release, because a caliper grabs the string evenly on both sides, so it won't push it to one side during the release. That seems intuitively correct to most people, and widespread belief in this theory probably explains why caliper releases (unfortunately) dominate the market. However, this release proves that theory wrong! Here are several reasons why calipers are NOT more accurate than a good hook release: 1)The design of this release is such that the hook rotates out of the way of the string loop with little to no sideways force on the string loop upon release. This can be seen by drawing the string back lightly (1/2" or so, with no arrow nocked) and looking closely as the trigger is pulled. The loop pulls out straight forward, with almost no sideways motion; the string/nock point itself has no sideways motion at all, at least none that I can see. 2)Even if the hook *did* push the string loop to one side (which it doesn't), if it did so *consistently* it wouldn't affect repeatability at all, unless it causesd the arrow to fishtail side-to-side. If it did cause the arrow to fishtail, that could be detected by a paper test, and could be corrected by adjustment of the arrow rest. 3)In any case, this release certainly does NOT cause the arrow to fishtail; with my bow set up correctly, paper testing shows my arrows flying straight as a bullet, with no detectable difference between this release and a caliper release. 4)Most importantly, the results speak for themselves. I generally shoot tighter groups with this release than with my three other releases (all caliper releases), and using this release doesn't change point of impact compared to the caliper releases. On good days, I've shot sub 3-inch five-shot groups with this release at 60 yards (using a Hoyt Faktor bow), which is better than I ever expected to be able to shoot any bow. Don't waste your money on cheaper releases, and DON'T make the mistake of thinking that caliper releases are (even theoretically) more accurate. Try it, and you'll be glad you got this one.

Amazingly consistant!
The release I got in turned out to be the forward trigger instead, but with the price I paid I just wanted to try it. It came in a day early so I took it out to the range the next morning and tuned my sight pin up to 15 yards Pros: This is a great release! The sensitivity is high, but perfect with the rolling release action. At the end of an hour of tuning my sight pin, my grouping at 15 yards was smaller than the size of a tennis ball (6 carbon arrows). I'm totally satisfied. My arrow hit exactly where I layed my dot. There's no hesistation...when you tap the trigger, it's releases! The adjustability allowed me to extend the release to match the draw length I set. Why would I do that? I can use a longer arrow to add more force behind it. More force produces better take-down during hunting. Tied with the consistancy and better accuracy, it should lead to a lethal combination! The pivoting and rotating head keeps it very centered and reduced any twisting on the loop string. This made it feel very comfortable when at full draw. Cons: The elastic strap seems to be in the way. You're supposed to secure it at the elastic strap and not the leather portion. I'm at the last hole so it just dangled. I decided to just cut it off.

Great beginner release.
I bought two of these for my daughters for Christmas. They both got bows, and I since I spent a lot of money on the bows, I figured I wouldn't overdo it on the releases until we figured out what worked for them. I would say that you get exactly what you're expecting out of a release in this price range. It fits my youngest daughter perfectly, (10 years old, 4'9", big hands for her age). It did not fit my oldest daughter very well, (14 years old, 5'8" big hands for a woman). It did however do the trick and get her to the point where we knew exactly what to get her for her next release, so it absolutely served it's purpose and was a good purchase. The upsides: Inexpensive, durable, gets the job done, fits young children well. The downsides: Does not self close the calipers, meaning you have to manually push the calipers closed. Velcro strap close. I consider this a good purchase. My youngest has tried her sisters more expensive release and still prefers this one, and it fits her well. My only real complaint is the self closing. We have had 2-3 instances of an arrow getting launched mid draw because my daughter didn't get a full close on the D-loop. I would buy this again if I had to do it over.

Excellent Release!
Excellent release with an excellent price. This is my second Tru-Fire release, purchased as a back-up. Based upon the usage of my first one, this one will likely be worked into the shooting rotation, and not stored as a back-up. Excellent quality and ease of use. If ever used as a back-up, it will likely be long from now.

This is worth the money tip to help you with it
Tips are further down this is review on the release- I for my first hunting season with a bow used a cheap basspro release, it got weak and stopped working well after a while. This is so much more comfortable and constance, barely any noise and seems to be have way durability than the cheap ones. It's size is easy to adjust however find a size and stick to it wanna be constant. But highly recommend it for the money, as I don't like buying expensive stuff when cheaper ones work but this is definitly a item to use. Tip So I found with shooting you want to he consistent with your pull back and way tou set it in your face. I found that once you get it comfortable to the tightness, length and all adjusted how you like lock it in, Do not change it ever again, unless you loose or gain weight and have to change the wrist tightness, but other than that your memory will be similer over the years and become 2nd nature, I haven't shot for a year first shot on 3d target bam kill shot at 30yrds. Now the wrist hole your comfortable with maybe marke it with blk dot around hole so you make sure to put it on the same spot. Good luck

Best release on the market imo
This is the second release I've owned and as far as I'm concerned it'll be the last. I can put it anywhere, including stuffing it up in my sleeve to climb in and out of trees. Being a hook style release, it's ALWAYS ready to hook on and draw. no more opening the jaws of my release and clamping them down. All you have to do to make sure this release is reset and ready is to pull the trigger. The trigger is also nice and smooth and totally adjustable. I was having some torque issues with my old release and throwing arrows left and high. This new release has fixed all that and tightened up my groups and brought me back on target. I Love it!! And amazon has the best price anywhere on this release. I'm gonna buy another one when I Can just to have it as a backup!!!

Awesome product but failed the "comfortable" test.
I'm an avid archer. I shoot daily either in the morning or evening. I've now owned the tru-fire caliper "patriot" modle for over 2 years and loved it, so when I saw this I thought that it was quite a deal! I went to sportsmans warehouse to price check and such and saw the hardcore max which I could feel the wrist band. It was very soft and plush. The camo verso was behind a plastic cover so I assumed that it was the same type strap for the packaging was nearly identical. This is not the case. The construction of the band is very nice with stiff leather that I'm sure would break in after reptitive use but I don't want my shot groups to suffer while I brake in a over 100 dollar hook release, after all... the reason we buy expensive is to try and avoid just this I'm mentioning. To continue; the felt backing which is swen on is quite rough, which surprised me at first considering how comfortable the old modle from the Patriot was with the velcro strap. This brings me to the next point- the strap The strap is pretty awesome except for the end. Why there is a 2 inch section of elastic on a band that has plenty of holes to set so you can slip it on and off is beyond me. If I was to keep this produce I would surely either cut it off or shorten it a ton. I tried to give this the reasonable beyond doubt try out so I wore it around the house for about an hour and found it was pretty uncomfortable. Even though the ability to fold back the trigger is awesome, the band is rather rough against skin. The actual usage and trigger and abilities of the mechanism all together for function I give a full 5 start +. It's amazing. Grouping shows instant improovement. But I still returned for the next modle up the hardcore max. If you're willing to work the leather and such this is an amazing buy for you. I however wanted more comfort for the price even at a bargen. Hence why I went with the max, nearly identical price but the better of the 2. Hope this helps

Dramatically increased my accuracy
I've toyed with different releases, including switching to back tension and thumb releases. I've found that for hunting applications, this is a great middle ground. All of the familiarity of a index release, but the "surprise" factor of other releases. Tightened up my groups immediately.
