The valve body is made of brass for corrosion resistance, ductility at high temperatures, and low magnetic permeability. Brass can be connected to copper, brass, plastic, aluminum, and welded steel. It has a tube compression connection on one end for fast installation and male NPT threads on the other end for connecting to a female threaded pipe. The maximum pressure rating is 250 pounds per square inch (psi), and the maximum working temperature is 400 degrees Fahrenheit.Check valves have two ports and restrict the flow of fluids and other loose materials through a pipe or passageway to one direction. Flow enters through one port and exits through the other, closing when flow reverses or stops. Two common types of check valves are ball cone valves and swing check valves. A ball cone valve utilizes a spring-loaded ball seated against a cone-shaped interior surface to stop the flow of fluid in a forward direction, and a swing check valve has a movable disc on a hinge to block reverse flow. Startup would blow the breaker unless the tank was well <100psi.Second one releases pressure, and has been holding full pressure all day. So 5 stars for the working product (standard check valve with vinyl unloader tubing leaked down in a few hours), less stars for the QC. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Product itself is great but missing information in description. *by H***1 on July 30, 2013* The Control Devices Load Genie is a very well made product. It performs as it should but a few things lacking in the description1) There is no compression nut or ferrule included with the valve. Its just the valve as pictured. So that means you need to go to your local supply store and find a compression nut and ferrule in order to make this work. Unless you plan on reusing an existing one.2) There is no information on the operational requirements for the valve. After I initially installed the valve and ran them I thought they were defective. They would dump air non stop while the compressor was running above 150psi. I double checked and they are rated for a max of 250psi so I thought there was an issue. But after both valves did the same thing I reconsidered that it was defective. So I emailed Control Devices to figure out what could be the issue. Well after a few emails back and forth I determined my compressor did not have the correct amount of CFM required to properly operate the valve. This valve requires a minimum of 1CFM at any pressure in order to seat the unloader valve. My compressor does not do 1CFM above 150psi which is why I had the issue.It would behoove Amazon to update their site with all the information about this valve as I was about ready to return them and get a refund.
